Is Dual wielding faster than just left clicking with one sword?
Every time I play skyrim with 2 swords, it seems like the only reason to use them is to do the same attack over and over that is clicking left MB and right MB at the same time, which would be fine other then the fact that there is only ONE attack animation for this type of attack.

So, What I wan't to know is, is there any advantage to attacking in the follow style ( LMB, next move right RMB ) I ask this because it seems in game doing this is no faster than just using one sword and clicking LMB over and over.

Its been really bugging me in the past and GOOGLE isn't getting me a clear answer.

Thanks in advance to the nice people who are going to help me out.

A pair of unenchanted Dragonbone daggers upgraded to legendary, plus all 3 words of the Elemenatal Fury shout create one heck of a dual wield power attack, usually a one shot deal is the result.

That's great and all but anything would still do that.

Specifically I need to know if going from hitting with the left then right is faster than just hitting with left over and over.

This has to be a bug, but if you equip an offhand dagger and a sword, axe or mace on your main hand, whenever you do a double PA you attack faster than if you were dual wielding daggers. That's right, sword + dagger = faster double PA than two daggers. I'm using a Blades sword mainhand and Blade of Woe offhand and dual power attack is so fast it's ridiculous. I've got uskp installed, I don't know if this is WAI but I find it hard to believe.

In my experience it is. You need to have good timing though.

With Dual weilding I find that I have killed my opponent before they swing at me. The loss of a sheild is no problem because the power attack dual weilding is a finishing move.

I'm really just wanting to know if using 2 weapons and going from left right left is faster than just left left left.

Yup.

My first character, I mostly had a sword in one hand and flames in the other, and generally just thwacked everything with the sword. Second character mainly was dual wielding whatever the two best blades I had (sometimes two swords, sometimes two daggers, sometimes one of each) and it certainly felt faster to alternate buttons, I found clicking the two buttons at once a bit hit and miss. Tbh, though, if I'm going melée, I'd rather use a two handed weapon, most of the time.

Apparently 33% more dps, and I assume all of that from the extra speed.
You got me interested though ;)
Still it's the power attacks that hit like a truck, so try to at least gloriously finish off your enemies with them. I sure do that ^^

No problem. It was a good question ^^ I've been dual wielding sometimes and only really for the cool dual dagger stance, but didn't observe much of a speed difference. I'd trust the wiki though even if it's not fully verified.

There are some perks you get specifically for dual weilding. Faster attacks is one of them on the skill tree if I remember correctly.
