Dark BrotherHood Questline HELP!
First off, my character is the Thane of Solitude and many other cities. Basically i made him a good guy. I only joined the Dark Brotherhood Questline so i could discover new things and do a story simular to the Thieves Guild one. I am up to the part where i am discussing the Emperor's assasination with Astrid. I DONT WANT TO KILL THE EMPEROR! I DONT WANT TO BE EVIL IN SKYRIM. I dont give a sh-- about spoiling it for myself. Just tell me, do you end up killing the emperor or anything like that? Should i load a long time ago save and choose not to join the DB?

Only spoil what i need to know
I'm a goody-goody and managed to play this questline through once. It was like extracting my own teeth. I can't stand playing DB in any of these, to be honest. So, yeah, you do have to kill the emperor, as well as a whole bunch of other people who don't deserve it. Like that poor mentally ill guy in Riverwood.
kill the dark brotherhod and you will get some money for it =)
No, the emperor is Titus Meade. You won't meet him unless you play that questline all the way through. It's almost worth it to meet the guy. Elisif's husband Toryg was High King of Skyrim...that's the one Ulfric killed. Thje emperor still resides in Cyrodiil.
Heh, you can always play it through and then spend the rest of your spare time doing random good deeds to atone. Break into people's houses and leave piles of gold ingots.
I'd say just go through with it. I think the way they do this quest works well, and it's not like you'll be marked as the Emperor-Slayer for the remainder of the game. That's what being a stealthy assassin in all about. Nobody knows of your bad deeds.
Do it for Astrid.
I was wondering if you killed Astrid now, if that would change anything.
I learnt the hard way that this game railroads you down certain quest lines without warning you of the consequences or giving you an option to quit.

I inadvertently triggered the Dark Brotherhood quest simply by being nosey and breaking into the Arrentino Residence. I didn't realise what I had triggerred until about a week later and by then the only way out was to abandon the last fifty saved games and go back to before I entered the house.

As a former GM, I consider that just bad plot design. But it happens a lot in Skyrim, make a bad choice on a dialogue option and suddenly your entire character is compromised and there's no way out but to reload.

Didz: Well, you can choose to kill the dark brotherhood. But yes. I was unappreciative of the fact that my pristine monk character got roped into the whole pickpocket thing in Riften
So you were okay killing a woman on her own wedding but killing the Emperor, who knows he was going to get killed, is not okay?

If you're following the stormcloak side then killing the emperor makes some sense as he's only emperor by the fact his army is trampling over your country in support of the opposition. Although the stormcloaks dont ever seem to be about much more than we want our country back, to oblivion with the rest of you.

The brotherhood are just the morally ambiguous who take money for murder.

I don't think that's ambiguous so much as completely amoral. ;

You should have started your Q. with a huge !! SPOILER ALERT !! you ruined the ending of DB for me and many others. now... here is what you can do: hug the emperor and jump into the Niben River. Drift as far as possible and find a peaceful corner where you can marry him and start the 'good life' you always dreamt of. good luck .)

Hey muri...maybe you shouldn't be reading something that asks for questline help if you don't want spoilers? That's just common sense there.
Assassin. Don't worry about what you are going to do. When you meet the Emperor, you will find out that it is your honor to kill him, not burden. He is honorable and brave man, who didn't deserve to be butchered by sloppyfingers like Arnbjorn or Festus. Make it clean and make it fast.
