It only works for one strike then you reapply
Step 2: Open menu
Step 3: Look for the poison you want to apply to the next arrow shot from equipped bow
Step 4: Press E to use poison
Step 5: A window appears, asking you if you want to apply to weapon. Select Yes (Enter)
Step 6: Shoot. Your next target hit will be affected by the potion
Note: if you miss the shot, you'll have wasted the poison. It is one-shot only. This means it is best used for sniping and finishing or for weakening a strong opponent prior to the real fight.
You sir have said the most silly thing of this thread. Of course the poison is put on the arrow it's just the game mechanics with the scripting force the dev's to attribute the buff to the bow because it's easier in code then separating the arrows out to poison one arrow. It's a game mechanic failure that was a compromise between poisoning a whole bushel of arrows or having non poison attributes to attack an enemy. Any hoo the most important part is the pointy bit of the arrow delivers the poison to the intended victim. Therefore your point, while accurate, is actually wrong because the delivery of the poison (going by the logic you are using) means that I have to hit the target with my bow to be effectual. However, it's the point but of an arrow that does the damage.

Not cheating huh - lol. You're meant to have 90 Alteration? in order to even harvest the Unique Scales, plus you need that special dagger (forgot its name - something fang) to collect them. Do what you like with your own game but, please, don't use cranky justifications for blatantly using well overpowered poisons to overcome your foes. It's too funny :D
