How do I get to Fort Dawnguard?

I just got Skyrim: Legendary Edition, an have progressed enough for the Dawnguard questline to be available. The only problem I have is finding the fort. I have reached some sort of strange stone arch beyond the black-briar lodge near the fort's location that won't let me pass. I'm going to buy a clairvoyance spell to help for the time being, but if anyone can guide me, it'd be much appreciated,

The area that the fort is in can be found to the far east of Riften.

You pass through a cave to get there. It's not accessible from the world map. Only a little bit inland from the border, it's close to the Fort though.

there is a map marker showing it's location...activate the quest in the quest log and the compass arrow at the top of the HUD will guide you, simple.

I just found it extremely easy, but I understand everyone finds it differently.
