Hahaha i honestly havent done it yet and im not going to if it will affect my playthrough negatively lol, but this horned helmet and shield are looking pretty badass.
If you belong to the thieves guild, however, and you commit that crime within a city where the guild has a strong influence, you can get away by paying half the fine and the guards won't even take any goods from you. If you have become thane of that city (a honorary title given to the city servants) you may use a one-time-only privilege of walking away (that privilege is kept track separately for each major city).
If you are sneaking while you try to steal or pickpocket you can tell whether or not you are being seen: the crosshairs change into an eye; if the eye is fully closed no one is seeing you and you may steal items from chests, ledgers, bookshelves, etc. without problem. If you try to pickpocket, though, you might still be caught. The fine you have to pay for pickpocketing is about 25 coins. By comparison, hitting someone is 50 coins, and killing someone one thousand.
and some general information for first-time players[www.uesp.net]. It may be particularly of interest if you have not played previous editions in the Elder Scroll series, though they are consistent in lore for the most part, each edition is self-contained and have differences in game mechanics.
Does this kitty look like he's the type to steal? :P
At shrines, I even make a contribution to add to the others! :D Maybe some ring, or old boots, or a gemstone or flower. I love how open this game is, how you can role play and make choices.
Yeah, when someone died I usually leave behind a flower.
That bandits scripting could use some fine-tuning. You can see who sent the bandits after you if you loot their bodies. See, I was one hour or so into my first playthrough when one of the children of the smith at Riverwood sent 3 thugs after me because I stole one book from his room. I scratched my head and thought "wow, is the kid a daedra in disguise, a centuries old vampire, or what? How on earth can he write so well and where did he get the money?".
Now in real life, that's another story.
I tend to drop all my books and alchemy ingredients off at home from time to time ... just in case ...
And I did wait until no one was around to break into Arentino's house (finally got around to wiping out the Brotherhood, and it was fun.)
