I have a friend who gets headaches playing some games like Skyrim, and the reason are his eyes. If a game has blur effects his eyes won't focus properly and remain constantly strained. The solution for him was turning off Depth of Field effects from the game.

I don't know if the reason for your trouble is the same or not, but it could be worth trying. You can try opening up Documents\My Games\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini and changing the value bDoDepthOfField=0

Yeah well, assuming here that OP meant physical hurt in his eyes, and not just ugly graphics! :D

My eyes get weird for awhile when I play the game after being away from it or awhile. Same happens when I play GTA. (Still haven't bothered to finish 5)
You should play beat hazzard, OMG...

GTA also has motion blur as well as depth of field, so my initial guess might well be on the mark. I recommend that you at least try turning off DoF like I said previously.

You should try resting a little bit, dunno.

There are alot of reasons a game could hurt you eyes... Do you have this problem with other games? Do you play any other FPS games? whats your referesh rate? What are yours PCs specs? Did you alter the Gama? Do you play some other game for 7 hours straight before you boot it up? Are you using mods that alter graphics settings or capabilitys? I could list a thousand more but it might be a bit easier if you described your situation beyond "when ever i play this game for like 5 minutes it startsd to hurt my eyes".

Differences in Field of View can also cause the issues.

Indeed...

Well if this isn't some thinly veiled troll thread trying to say "LOL vanilla graphics sux!" and/or the OP trying to take advantage of users' attempts to help (for the "lolz") then I'll echo what Remlish said: it could be all manner of things.

Do you have any pre-existing issues with your eyes? If so then maybe adjusting/disabling things like Depth of Field, Field of View, and Brightness/Gamma may help.

If not then it could be a life-style factor.

Do you spend your school/work day in front of a computer screen? Do you spend all your free time playing video games, watching TV/movies, and otherwise in front of a computer screen? Are you trying to play the game in a dark room (this actually hurts my eyes after awhile no matter what game)? Are you playing the game at 4 AM after being up for 18 hours? Is your face 2 inches away from the screen? Are you poking yourself in the eyes to simulate combat damage?

My end-all advice would be to do three things:

1. Mess around with the aforementioned DoF, FoV, and Brightness/Gamma settings.

2. If that doesn't work see if your eyes hurt while playing after getting a good night's rest and in a well-lit room.

3. If 1 and 2 fail it might be a good time to go to the optomitrist and get your eyes checked out. It might seem/feel weird to ask him/her about your issue but I'm sure they'll have some insight/knowledge as to the effect of computer/television screens on your eyeballs.
I just don't believe OP.
