Stuck on island or underwater
If it's not Delphine causing trouble, be darned it's Serana.
We were in Dead Drop Falls, the puzzle part with the bridges, when she simply walks off the pillar and on the small piece of land underneath it. Now, she's stuck there, because there's water all around and unlike most followers she seems incapable of even swimming to the other side. And I need her for the quest I'm doing, so, well, it'd be nice to actually have her.

I've tried to wait for untold amounts of time, dismiss her and wait, simply leave and do something else, but nothing works and she keept standing on that little cursed island. Shouting her away will only lead to her getting in the water to never move out of it again.
Appreciating any (helpful) answer.
(For the info: reloading will only be a last resort as the last save was made before the Dawn of Time itself, and I'm not about to let some stuck-up bloodsucker ruin the work)

If your using the PC version you can try the player.placeatme xxxxx command

open the console then use the command help followed by the name of the follower to get the correct ID code.

so for Serana - player.placeatme xx002B6C (actual code may be diffrent in your game, use the in game help command to get the correct ID)

this will place the NPC or object next to you

I've had many such problems with Serana. Best solution i've found for most issues is simply the "Moveto.player" consol command. it will generally get NPC's unstuck. You can also try unrelenting force on her, that might do the trick as well.

Fast travel and shouting no result, but the console commands got her back. Thanks!

Sometimes it’s necessary for your character to give Serana a physical nudge in situations like this. Helps on land, anyway. Just getting near her and moving away will sometimes also work. In other situations, going back to the previous save is the only option.

If you’re in a dungeon or some such, and fast-travelling isn't possible, saving often to keep you from having to repeat long parts of the journey is the only option. I save after every major fight, and before opening every door. (Besides, frequent saves will also rescue your game in the event of the all-too-frequent CTDs that plague this game.) You can of course overwrite previous saves to conserve disk space.

Saving often is something I learnt the hardway, now I have the button under my thumb assigned to quicksave so I'm saving every minute now without having to stop what i'm doing or think about it:)

How do you find an NPC's ID Code?
