Item codes and loading order?
I've read a bunch of stuff on being able to input item codes with your loading order for Skyrim, but I don't understand any of it. I'm trying to get the items to build a house on the Hearthfire pack and after looking up the load order, that would make me something like 03? (I believe I own Skyrim: Legendary or something along those lines). You need to understand that I'm really not a gamer at all and do not understand any of the lingo or abbreviations for things. Can anyone please help me out?

OK, I can clear this issue up for you. First, you don't add items by going to the data files and looking at your load order. You add items to your inventory by using console commands. Since you are new to all of this I don't recommend you try using the console until you understand more about how the console works. With that said, here is how it works;

1. To use a console command to add items to your inventory, you first need to know what the console code is for the item. wiki lists all console commands on it's site. The easiest way to find the code for the item you want to add is to google Skyrim and name of item. Like skyrim ebony ingots for example. One of the top search results will be one of two wiki sites and both will list the items code on the right hand site of that items wiki page

2. Once you have the items code, start up Skyrim, once you are in the game press the tilde key `, it's the one right above the tab key. a small interface will open at the bottom left of you screen. type the following; player.additem xxxxxxx 1 and hit enter, the item will be added to your inventory. xxxxxxxx is the item code you got from wiki and the number 1 is the quanity of the item you want to add. if you want 100, then type that instead of 1. Make sure you add the period after the word player and a space between item and the items code. also a space between the items code and the quanity you want of that item.

OH yeah, hit the tilde key again to exit the console.

Actually, the first 2 digits of the item code ARE LITERALLY your load order for that module. So any Skyrim.esm item (most the stuff in the game) is 00xxxxxx, and if you want Hearthfire (or other mods items) you would use each modules respective load order for the first two digits. Bear in mind, it's a Hexadecimal AND begins at 00, but your launcher data window should show that.

LOL, yeah, I forgot to tell him that. SORRY, the first two digets of the code are the load order of your Hearthfire DLC.

Here's a hint. In Skyrim you can get the item IDs by opening the console and using the help command with 4 as the final parameter.
Keep in mind that the search string has to be a single word.
This command will return a list of matches for the word "dress".
help dress 4

You'll want to search for matches with the MISC prefix.

there is no need for necromancy in forums and the parameter 4 in legacy skyrim

Oh, sorry, for some reason the mobile app highlights old threads as if they have new replies on my phone. I don't know why.
Since this post apparently gotten necro'd I'll simplify it further.

Imagine for a second that the item code of what you're looking for is 0204B73. The 02 is the load order for that DLC also meaning it could be 01, 03, 04 you get the idea. The 04B73 does not change. Ever. When spawning it in you press the ~ (tilde) button and type in: player.additem 0204B73 #. Just replace the # sign with however many of that item you want.

You can also find the ID's of items by typing in: help itemname 4. What that other guy didn't tell you is items with more than one word in their name can also be searched for; you just put quotations around it. For example Daedric Battleaxe would be: help "daedric battleaxe" 4.
