my drivers are completely up to date I just updated them today. still no luck :(
- Launched Skyrim via Steam
- You pressed "Play" in the Skyrim Launcher
- You never even get to the Betty logo. Skyrim immediately closes after you press Play.
- The same goes with other Betty games such as F NV. Open launcher, press play then immediate crash.
Am I right so far?
Yes, you got it correct. Im not sure why it does this.
- Verify cache. To do this go to your Library, right-click Skyrim and click Properties. Under the Local Files tab click "verify integrity"
- Reinstall the game
No error messages at all its really strange. Ive verified my cache multiple times and reinstalled it multiple times also. If i reinstall does it get rid of all my skyrim files? if theres something that doesnt change when I reinstall could that possibly be the problem? If so, how can I clear all of the files. Because reinstalling should fix the problem shouldnt it... obviously something that is causing the problem isnt going away.
I'm basically giving you the less invasive solutions because honestly, I'm quite baffled by this. I would suggest that you wait for our more experienced forum members to take a look at this.
well thanks for trying. Im quite baffled too. I've seen other people with the same problem and they either end up fixing it in a different way that doesnt work for everyone else with the problem or they dont resolve it at all.
I was actually playing when the game just froze and later - no response.. :/
I just have the basic skyrim and no DLC
This worked for me:
I'm always messing around with Windows and I occasionally break it. This time I uninstalled some components Skyrim needed to play. I wasn't sure which version was missing but thankfully there are recovery files in the Skyrim folder!
1. Go to your game folder. On my computer that's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim
2. Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 2010. In VCRedist folder, run vcredist_x86.exe.
3. Reinstall Microsoft ASP .NET MVC 4 Runtime. In DotNetFX folder, run dotnetfx35setup.exe.
4. Make sure your DirectX is up to date by running DXSETUP.exe in the DirectX10 folder.
5. Restart the computer.
6. Game on!
