they have similar questlines, its basically a few long dungeons.
I really didn't like dawnguard. The reward you get at the end after doing all those quests is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. The quests ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck, the dawnguard people sucks.
The vampires are badass and they actually gives you quests to kill people. It's like a continuation of the dark brotherhood. But I don't actually use the vampire forms, I hate third person view. Quite possible that the main quest will look similar to dawnguard at some point and could get boring but it seems to be the most fun for assassins/thieves/mages. And ♥♥♥♥ the buff from dawnguard that you get. Skyrim is really easy, the buffs are unecessary.
As for story, it's not much different, same locked companion, and mostly the same quests, there is not a lot of variation, just a different point of view.
