Can't change graphics settings PLEASE HELP
I can go into the configure and play around with the setting but nothing changes not even the resolution of the screen. Right now my graphics are at lowest quality even when I set the game at ultra. Not sure if this is related but when I try to validate the game files it says 1 file failed to register and had to be redownloaded but when I check my downloads tab it says 0/0 bytes downloaded.
any suggestions or fixes?

After you get the desired settings you press "ok". Seems like you just keep canceling it out some way.

Lol I don't know then man. I think it may have to do with your GPU and Skyrim not liking it some way but thats just my guess.

Its wierd I been able to play this at max settings for months, then I take a break from the game for a few months and everything looks aweful. Computer problems are dumb

Did you try deleting Skyrim.in and SkyrimPrefs.ini in your Documents/MyGames/Skyrim folder and restarting the game with the Steam Lancher. It will generate new .ini files for you.

Also, ignore the 1 file failed to register notice. That is normal. More than 1 is not.

If that doesn't work I would test the card on another demanding Steam game to make sure it is performing normally.

Its a common problem then. U need to rollback CCC.
To do that, go to 'my computer' and right click on it and go 'properties'. Then click 'device manager' at the top left. Then expand 'display adapters' and right click your g card and hit 'properties'. Go to the 'driver' tab and hit 'roll back driver'. It should look like its stuck for a minute and then it should rollback to an earlier version of CCC. Before u do all that, check your current CCC version to see if it has changed to 14.9 after the rollback.
Restart the PC if its still causing issues.

I did the roll back and it said I had 12.6 tried starting the game it had same issues even after a restart.

Did try deleting the ini files, sadly that doesn't work either. I was playing rome 2 earlier this week so the problem seems to be only in skyrim.

If you change your Skyrim graphics settings and your game reverts to the previous settings then you might have a file attribute/permissions issue. The files seem to be "read-only" so try launching as admin and also change the files attribute to read-write.

Ya, the problem he's referring to is with the drivers in the latest Catalyst Omega (14.12) package, which is for HD5000 or newer cards - you should probably be using the Legacy Catalyst 13.9 package.
