Found something wierd in the Midden Dark

its like a hand with an upside down conjoration symbol, and you can activate it's fingers, but it doesnt do anything, please help me before i die of curiosity!
It also says "relic" before everything, (ex. Relic Ring Finger) Btw, check my profile for a screenshot

I had seen the hand in my very first play through. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out there had to be a quest involving it. But wasn't until this thread that I knew how to start that quest. So thank you for providing the info. Glad I read this.

I thought that this was an unfinished quest/story that the developers had decided to leave out but didn't remove from the game?

After reading that, I've had the rings and seen the hand a few times but never put the two together.

I think the missing student one is the incomplete quest. You can find some of their things around the Winterhold area, like Borvir's dagger, but there's really nothing (that I've found) to do with them afterward.

There is a mod which adds that quest back

the thing that intregues me the most is that when you open the journal, it doesnt ACTUALLY start the quest

Yeah, lots of stuff left lying around from an unfinished College questline. It would have been interesting to see the final product, instead we got the shortest faction questline in the game.
