Hey

I hate being a vampire cause everyone attacks you.
Do you guys have this too?

Thanks for reading.

Use the Better Vampires mod if you intend to really play as a vampire. Bethseda did a half assed job in implementing vampires.

But supposely by using vanilla, at stage 4 everyone attacks you, even farmers with knives. They somehow go mentally hero mode and think they can kill a vampire.

They do not attack you, if you just feed and reduce your vampiric level. They will only attack, if they recognize you as a vampire.

I agree with this. Better Vampires is a good mod and fixes several glitches as well. I am using it.

While we are at the topic of vampirism: this is the problem that everyone complain about, but never notice to pick it from my bug fix post:

I want people to attack me, I'm a bloody vampire. *shrug*

It's a good mod, I have installed it late game without issue.
I just never stuck with being one and without Dawnguard I found it kind of boring and made it too easy with Better Vampires...though there are plenty of normal and harder settings. I just didn't use them.

And to digress a bit since we're talking vampires and I didn't want to start a new thread...

So now I have Dawnguard but don't know if I goofed as I started as a vampire on Alternate Start and am unsure if the quest will kick in. (google isn't too clear) I'm LV 9 and haven't seen any vamp attacks yet, and only one pair of hunters after me, nor gotten the rumors for the quest. Come to think of it, DCO hasn't kicked in yet either. I hope it's not botched.

I know this was exactly 1 year and 8 days ago, but I wanted to mention that if you wanted it harder, Raubrey, you should first turn up the settings in BV and get a feel for it before you slash it down.

Its like you chose to play it on lower settings to make yourself OP and then find it distasteful afterwards. I got news: the desire to be OP should always be greater than actually having it. I'm not saying this is your case, but this is exactly how your post sounds like when you don't give the harder options in a mod a chance and then say it isn't hard enough.

With that said, I'm going to say if you use Vampiric Thirst, use Requiem with it. Not only is the game harder but its De-Leveled like original RPG systems. You won't feel like a badass because you actually feel human. Dragons, Werewolves, Vampires, Draugr Overlords, Dungeon bosses, etc. will have significant power over you until you level high enough to deal with those threats. Strategy isn't the only thing involved, choosing your battles and the decision to retreat when necessary even comes into play.

Requiem isn't compatible with BV. And the only other mod that can really compete with BV is Vampiric Thirst, imo. With that said, I have played BV. Its a good mod on customization, but ultimately Vampiric Thirst plays out a Vampire in a more realistic way.

(My ultimate goal in necro'ing the thread is to update information and validating it - Feel free to include your own thoughts on the subject at your own leisure.)

If you have Dawnguard you can cure vampirism in Morthal. But be vampire is good if you do Dawnguard questline and you have Auriel's bow.

If you have Dawnguard, then NPCs don't attack you at stage 4 anyway, removing a large chunk of the incentive to get cured in the first place.

Unless you're running a mod that re-enables that "feature", of course.
