Follower won't follow bug
I recently started a new game (my only mods being the unofficial patches atm), and I just got Lydia as a follower. She follows me everywhere in whiterun, like into buildings, but once I leave Whiterun she dosen't go through the gates. I try fast traveling, dismissing then recruiting again, but noithing can get her to leave. I can use console commands to place her outside whiterun, but she is completely stuck in one place outside. Anyone help please? (yes I also tried reloading saves and even starting another new game but notrhing works, and I know the unnoficail patches shouldn't be causeing this problem).

That happened to me once, though it was in a cavern instead of Whiterun. I did evrything I could think of. My solution was start a new file. It never came up again. However there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum and one of them may have a better answer.

would be great if people read my whole post. I did say that I started a new game, yet nothing worked.

This is a common problem with Lydia. Go outside the city or the building or whatever she's stuck in.

Open the console with the tilde (~) key.
Type in:

prid 000A2C94 (Press Enter)

moveto player (Press Enter)

That should fix her.

Wait--sorry, I re-read your post--what commands did you use to place her outside?
I just got home and my brain is fried from working all day.

i used the same console commands you gave me. Those do not work as they cause my follower to be stuck in one place

Hmmm, that should not happen. Lemme look at some of the Lydia bugs and I'll get back to you.

Lydia is the buggiest follower in the game, apparently. Have you installed the Unofficial Skyrim Patch from the Nexus?

AFT solved the issue for me (Amazing Follower Tweaks). Lydia complied but she now guards Breezehome, permanently.
