PC's body disappears when I put on armor! [SOLVED]
I migrated my mods from NMM to MO. Everything appeared to be working until I got to the last four mods - night sky, shooting stars, rainbows, and the armor I've been using since level 20-something (I'm currently level 42, so it was awhile ago when I crafted it). I installed, LOOT-ed, Wrye Bash-ed, did a final check of the conflicts to make sure the textures I wanted would appear, then started the game and loaded up the last save from before the migration - and am greeted with a PC who has a head, cape, weapons, etc., but no body.

I get the, `something is missing', message; not sure where it is coming from (I've installed everything that was), but the priority order is different from the old installation order...

I'll need to track that down, somehow... (but I suspect it is a red herring).

If I un-equip the armor the body appears, and if I drop the armor it appears on the floor.

These are the mods I'm using for the body, skin, and armor...

Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Edition -CBBE
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2666/?

CBBE skin texture V2 V3 plus Thepal and UNP compatible
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6554/?

Thieves Guild Duelist Armor CBBEv3 Echo
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13646/?

...and I haven't added or removed any that were installed before I did the migration. The only thing different (AFAICT) is that the skin texture mod is a manual install when using NMM (texture files + a .esp), so I turned it into a mod containing the same files I'd dropped into the Data folder.

So, what would cause a body (or any object?) to become invisible?
and, Is there an easy way to see what's missing from the save?

Probably a body mesh issue.

The only thing i can think of for you to do is re add those 3 mods in manualy starting with

Manually install..
1.Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Edition -CBBE , Then load up your save and check with a few differant armors you have laying around. If all goes well and your body shows move onto part 2

Manually install..
2.CBBE skin texture V2 V3 plus Thepal and UNP compatible, once done load up your save again and equip a few differant armors again and see what happens, If all goes well, move on to stage 3.

Manualy instal..
3.Thieves Guild Duelist Armor CBBEv3 Echo, once re added, load your save and see what happens when you place the armors on....

But before you do that .. Make copy of everything in the data folder .. all the mesh, textures and .esp, esms n such just in case things get worse lol

But also dont forget to re download the 3 mods first and double check the size of each DL before and then after it's downloaded....

Had the same sort of thing happen to me last year when I was palying around with mods again lol

But yeah like Delta said.. Sounds very much like a mesh issue to me .. Kinda like the -CBBE- was not moved correctly or the duelist armor was mot moved / installed correctly

Ya. I was thinking meshes myself.

So, how does one manually install something with a Mod Organizer set up?... I'm guessing you just drop the files into ModOrganizer\mods\<mod-name>

But before you do that .. Make copy of everything in the data folder .. all the mesh, textures and .esp, esms n such just in case things get worse lol
I have a copy of the entire Skyrim game folder, as it was when NMM was managing the mods. MO worked with it, everything was "unmanaged", nut it worked.

But also dont forget to re download the 3 mods first and double check the size of each DL before and then after it's downloaded....
I copied all the archives from NMM's "mods" folder into MO's "downloads" folder, so they should all be identical to what NMM had to work with. If Windows corrupted something when copying I'd expect an error when MO tried to unpack them.

Had the same sort of thing happen to me last year when I was palying around with mods again lol

If I was a gambler I'd be putting money on the armor mod being messed up somehow. The author fiddled with it so that the actor has a bigger bosom than it should, and I think that involves fiddling with meshes - so maybe the armor isn't, literally, meshing with CBBE anymore.

CBBE and CBBE + skin texture appear to be doing what they are supposed to, and a different armor by the same author (which has the same requirements/recommendations) works in an earlier save (the one I was using for testing as I did the migration, because all the missing bits would crash the most recent save).

SOLVED:

It turns out that the meshes and textures for the armor were incorrectly placed in their own Data folder... the path being created for the game was Skyrim\Data\Data\meshes or textures.

Manually getting rid of the Data parent folder in MO's mods folder entry for the mod fixed the problem.

Now I just need to figure out where I went wrong when I installed the mod in MO - and remember to be extra careful next time I find myself working past my bedtime <sigh>.

As always its something stupidly simple like that lol

Kinda lost count how many times ive done that myself when i manualy install the mods hehe.
