Hope that helps!
You can just click the dead NPC when you typed Resurrect and hit return once the code shows up (or click first then type the ress command and hit return to excecute), no need to type in the code that is displayed. Just thought id mention that, as there not the most type friendly codes most of the time. The 1 is indeed needed unless you want it to spawn a new copy (incase you looted the bodys for example and most stuff is gone, or any other cases you want the NPC to reset to default loadout).
Refferance: Console Commands [elderscrolls.wikia.com]
This obviously goes for most commands that use ID codes, i think even quests if you have the questlog opened and click on a quest name. Its been a while since i had quest issues so im not 100% sure about that.
You are right, indeed. I tend to type out the code, just to get used to the main ones. It eliminates a step when using the PRID command to target a lost follower if you already know their codes. Thank you for mentioning that one doesn't need to type the code if the NPC is already selected. I didn't even think of it. *lol*
Any time! ^_^
