If you can stand the graphics and slow start and the interface (like player inventory) doesn't bug you, you might really like it. It's very old-school as to difficulty level too. You have to like to read somewhat lenghty dialog as well to really get the most out of it. It's a great game if you like it but not for everyone.

Morrowind has Tamriel Rebuilt, a mod that adds a huge landmass (the actual Morrowind mainland) complete with NPCs, cities and quests. With Morrowind Sound and Graphics Overhaul (another mod) Morrowind looks every bit as great as Skyrim. If you run the game vanilla be prepaired for some awkward graphics. The game is old after all. I would recomend Morrowind because even if your computer isn't so great you can still play.

Have you looked into Oblivion? I recomend that game as well. There should be some nice sales coming up soon.

If you ignore the bad parts, the older games can get really fun.

I've tried Daggerfall after Skyrim and I beat that game, I'm still playing it too!

You should ask the Morrowind forums.

You should be aware that Obby has an infamously imbalanced leveling system so do your research before you play that game. It's so bad that we have a term for it; "Oblivion Syndrome"

I remember using an old CD key from my brother when he had Morrowind for his PC. So I tried it out. Last time I played it before that was back when Morrowind was new, and I was playing it on Xbox way back then. So when I played it for myself on PC it was after playing Skyrim, note that.

Here are a few things that stood out to me after fooling around for an hour:

* The symbols for each sign was so blurry and faded out you had to run all the way up to it and it would tell you in a plain letter box what the sign said. I had to do this for the first quest trying to find the Corner Club. Wait no... I had to do that to find a shop to point me towards the corner club which an NPC gave me very vague directions. THANX -_-

* Reading. Holy crap less details please. But that's just my personality probably, I'm a very gung-ho person.

* Graphic & sound assets were totally fine, reminded me of the PS2 and Xbox era (Gee, wonder why????)

* Slower paced. I played Oblivion and realized that ever since Morrowind the games have gotten more fast-paced and action oriented. Scenic. Epic. Thriller.

I have bought a few games because of nostalgia getting the better of me. It destroyed my good memories, playing old games made me annoyed about all the things from that era. Don't buy old games, k? They are obsolete.

One of the first mods I installed for Morrowind was a better sign mod. And I only ever used five mods. The reading didn't bother me, it was every NPC in the vicinity having exactly the same dialog.

Loved Morrowind since I first bought it on the Xbox. Then I wised up a year later and bought it for PC so I could start modding it. The best thing about Morrowind is simultaneously its most frustrating aspect:

There is no compass nor is there a map marker system. Therefore, when given a quest in which you must find a place, you will be given directions and then you have to figure it out for yourself. I hated treking through the Ashlands the first few times, I'm sure you will, too.

Dunno about the PC version, but the Xbox release of Morrowind failed to get past Microsoft's QA team more times than any other game. Although it made it eventually, it's every bit as unstable as Skyrim, if not more so.

Bethesda games in general lack stability.

Oh I quite agree, at least concerning the Xbox version of Morrowind. Nothing was as frustrating as getting so far in a game before a glitch in landscape textures make you unable to move at all. That was primarily the reason why I went PC, because "noclip" was the second best thing ever to happen for videogames.

Oh, I found my way of dealing with the "constantly stuck in the scenary" problem - using the busted alchemy system, I produced potions of levitation. The more powerful the potion, the faster you flew... fly fast enough, and the clipping engine bugged out and let you fly through walls...

My main issue involved the game constantly running out of RAM once I made it far enough through (which it'd try to hide by throwing a bogus "disc read error"). It loaded the whole save into RAM at once, so the longer you played, the more memory it used... and the console only had 64MB total to play with, so...
