How to make money without selling.
One thing i always find anoying in games is how easy it is to sell stuff.
I dont know anyone who could go to a random store and sell them his crap in real life.
I know i cant.

So i am roleplaying a charater who cant sell anything.
Period.

So how does suchs a charater gets enough gold to buy a house, weapons potions etc.
Also no looting.

You want to work for it? Like endless quest/job turn-ins? Join the companions or thieves' guild. Beats chopping wood or picking crops, which you might argue are people who shouldn't have endless money to give you.

It's that or get married ASAP and let your spouse open shop.

I'd also suggest crafting weapons/armor/pots so you have less to buy, but if you're super-serious about roleplay then you might not think that's right for your character either.

The one final alternative is just to change the way you think about it. These games aren't set in modern economies where the supply and demand make selling for a profit difficult. Skyrim's a harsh land in the middle of civil war, and frankly certain goods would have more value to most people than currency. It should make sense that certain smiths, unable to keep up with demand for their goods, would gladly buy your looted or crafted weapons and armor.

The unrealistic things, imo, are that the players possess ridiculous carrying capacities, and that we always see widespread use of currency, but no mints/treasuries/banks are ever to be found or mentioned, despite visiting major cities and seats of governments.

Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure if the endless jobs are available from the companions before completing x# of their main questline. As I recall, saying that you are looking for work triggers at least a couple of their main story quests. I've never really tried to do the random jobs while ignoring the main questline.

You don't necessarily need to join the companions or the thieves guild. You should be able to get unlimited bounties in pretty much any town, talk to the tavern keepers of the jarl's steward and say that you're looking for work. These quests include killing a bandit/forsworn leader, killing a giant and killing a dragon. As a note, these quests take 30 in game days to reset (and become repeatable).

About no looting, is that exclusive to humans? If you dont loot things like dragons and animals you are going to have real trouble with crafting. Dragons are also a good source of gold as they usually have 600+.

Markarth has a bank/mint type place. Better recapture their gold mine from the Forsworn right away, huh? AFAIK, you can't make your own coins at either place. You can make plenty of gold ingots at the mine though.

My suggestion to you would be to mine for silver and gold, use transmute when you run out of either, collect gems and make jewelry. Sell the jewelry at the jewelry stand in Markarth and in general stores everywhere. Think of these shops as being pawnshops!

With Harvest Overhaul, you can boost the ammount of coins in coin purses. Amongst all the other options listed.

You don't have to be that extreme. There are restrictions you can put on yourself and still be roleplaying and able to sell. Such as:

* May only sell used weapons and armor to military quartermasters
* May only sell new weapons and armor to blacksmiths where you made them
* May only sell ingredients to alchemists
* May only sell other items out of your own store (ei. your spouse)
