If I go to skyrim in my library I can browse a workshop and get iteams (I think) I don't know what it is. Are they mods, are they safe, and are they free.

yes they are mods, and yes they are free. However I suggest that you go online and get you mods from Nexus Mods Skyrim. You'll need to become a member, but that's free too.

Mods are free, in Workshop and Nexus. They are "safe" in sort that you some mods require that you pay attention to requirements and possible mod conflicts between them. This basically just means reading descriptions properly.

Here is a good set of tutorial videos about modding. They are mostly for Nexus, but would give you the idea what is going on.

I know this is steam ,but I have to fear of malware on minecraft, is there a chance that might happen. And yes I know that minecraft is not in steam.

You are worrying too much, I think. We haven't really had any problems with malware here.

I don't use Workshop at all (I do not consider it's autoupdate feature stable enough for my game), but I have never herd any positive malware hits from there.

Nexus had a bad ad and some idiot playing a hacker, but neither managed to do any harm. They are running virus scans to all their files, so I consider Nexus safe as well.

Every time I subscribe a mod on the workshop I wait about 30 minutites (just because) and when I play the game I can't find the iteam I subscribed. Should it have come up in my invintory. Help wht do I do.

You have to run the launcher and let it sit - it only downloads the mod while the launcher is running.

At the bottom of the launcher is a ticker that will tell you what mods are being downloaded and when its done.

How do I do that
bigal5678 Nov 30, 2014 @ 5:26pm
I went to the shyrim menu and in data files I found the subscripted mod and it had a check mark next to it and under subscription it said yes what does this mean.
wowszer Nov 30, 2014 @ 5:59pm
Finding the mod there is good, means it has been downloaded, checkmark means that it is active. Unchecking it means that you will be running without the mod active, you will get a screen showing up that some items are missing just before the game really starts. Unchecking is handy for mod trouble shooting. Subscribed means that it is a Steam mod, yes means that it is have chosen it in Steam, and still want updates if the author does an update.

If you by that think it can destroy the savegame you are playing, so yes...be careful with mods and consolle commands, espesially if you are not confident in PC investigation.

If you just have bought the game, play it with no mod at all, just to get the feeling, then later start a new game and try out some mods, just be restrictive with yourself.

More then 90 % of all complains here in the forum can be transfered back to use of mods, so read the sticky help thread on top of this page.

I coudln't find the id number for this, but do you know if Jedi of skyrim:KotOR system V3.8 is safe

If you are that worried about mods, don't use them. Mods cause problems because they modify the game, hence the name mod. Some change the same area in the game, can czuse crashes, or you have to adjust the load order to help overcome thst problem. Adding lots of mods at once will have you on site posting lots, or just cursing. But they are not virus riddencode, sites would be boycotted by irate users. You are confusing the actions of viruses and mod conflicts. The latter cause problems with the game only. The former cause problems with your whole computer.
