Jarl Skald Quest Bug

Hello, I looked through the forum via search, but didn't find anything that would hel me with this, so I opened a new thread. Hope that's okay.

My problem:
I want to buy my third plot of land in The Pale for the 3-House-Achievement, but it seems that Jarl Skald bugged out during the "loyalty missions".
In my journal I find the quest "Help people in the Pale (1/3)", yet I finished all available quests (except those from the bartender) and I made sure to speak with everyone a hundret times... nobody tells me anything new.
I even have 2 entries of "Collect the bounty from Skald", but when I talk to the Jarl he doesn't know anything about them, there's only the two default talking options concerning war and dragons.

I slayed what feels like half a million giants and dragons for the bartender as well. When I complete them the quest marker says 3x Collect the Bounty from Skald, but he still only has one dialouge option for the new quest and pretens to not remember the others.
It didnt bother me like 100 hours ago because back then I didn't have the DLC :D
But now it does, and I would really like to get that achievement (and a clean journal).

I have the DLCs installed. No mods, except highres I think. Also no patches other than steam default patches.

Would the unoffical patches fix that or is there another workaround?

If you haven't unofficial patches installed, add them they fix missing data, also talk to his steward

Unoffical patches are fantastic for fixing bugs like this, but only in a preventative way, rather then post-bug as by then the bug is usually in your save file. Worth a shot though.

If they dont work heres some more info for you
Unfortunetly I cant find anything about the bug on the UESP website which is usually a really good resource for finding solutions for these bugs. But there are a few things you can try other then that. Back up your saves before you try this though.

- Revert to an earlier save. If you arent regularly saving in a new slot, you should be, because this sort of bug happens a lot unfortunetly. Dont use autosaves, or quick saves as they corrupt really easily. Use manual saves and I recommend working on a five save cycle, so have your last five saves accessable at all times :(
- Use console commands to teleport him to you in another cell (preferably outside his building if he is inside)
- use recycleactor on him
- 'kill' him and then pay off the bounty and go visit him again
- if there are any useable things in his hall (cooking pot for example) use that, save and load and talk to him again (its a fix for a similar bug that can happen with one of the civil war npcs, dont ask me why it works. i dont know, it just does, worth a shot here too XD )
- complete the quest with the console

Do you recommend all unoffical patches at once, or should I only use the main patch and leave out the DLCs? I didn't run in to other problems yet, surprisingly (or I just didn't recognize them haha).

His steward, boyscout (?), entchantment lady and nord warrior commander guy don't have anything to say on that topic either. 3/4 of them don't talk to me at all :(

Use all of the unoffical patches for what you have. They have to be arranged in a specific way so grab LOOT http://loot.github.io/ and run that when you install them. You must have all the patches because the dlc will override some fixes from the original patch.

As far as the console, you open it with the ~ button, then use the mouse to select what you want to edit and then type in your commands

I installed all patches, put them inthe right load order, everything started just fine.
In the process I slyed Jarl Skald twice and made his housecarl re-appaer in nothing but his loin cloth... man that was a shocker.

But somehow something got fixed, so that I was able to pick up old/new quests for the loyalty mission to become thane. I bought the plot and started building and then ... nothing happened. I already owned the two other plots, one with an entrance hall, one full worked out house with additions and furniture and everything. So I figured for the achievement maybe I need three fully developed houses. I hammered some shacks together, furnished them ... still nothing.

An Idea for this?
3 plots, 3 fully developed houses, no achievement.

If not, I'm cool... I need to start a second character for vampire stuff, bounty stuff and daedric artifacts anyway, I guess :)

Unfortunetly, if the achievements dont register I dont think you can fix that in game. Someone else may know a solution but I dont.

Since you've already slain the giant, the following are all real easy things to do to help the people of the Pale. Bounty quests don't count towards becoming a Thane.

Mine Ore - Get paid to mine iron ore. - Beitild
Mine Ore - Get paid to mine quicksilver ore. - Leigelf
Give a drunk a drink - Make a drunk dance for joy. - Karl
Chop Wood - get paid to chop wood - Aeri @ Anga's Mill
