List of the best Follower mods
My biggest complaint with Skyrim is that there are so many characters, but none of them have very much depth. We don't learn much about any given character, and our interactions with them are few. And sadly, the characters who are the most guilty of this lack of depth are the characters you spend the most time with: the followers. Seriously, the housecarls may as well be robots.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn brought Serana and Frea and a few others with some location-aware dialogue, but I want more. I know of a few follower mods that have voiced/quest content, but when you search for followers on the Workshop or Nexus, 95% of what you find is attractive female robots, and the mod description is a few pictures and some text freshly oozed out of google translate. Further, mods on the nexus are sometimes oddly categorized (for example, there's a "Followers" category and a "Companions - Other" category - almost all of which are regular followers)

So I'll post the few I know of. Please feel free to add to this list in your replies. I'm not going to be too picky when it comes to quality; voice acting and quest content are not required (for example, I'll take a creature follower as long as the process to acquire it is somewhat interesting), but if you recommend a mod here it should have some story/lore/personality quality that sets it apart from the types of follower mods I described above.

What does NOT belong in this thread: Mods that only affect behavior/utility/appearance of existing followers (e.g. UFO, AFT, "beauty mods"), Followers whose only "extra quality" is their unique armor/weapons/spells/appearance.

this was the 3rd post from a year ago I posted on after it was necroed and infact 1 post was closed up by a over zealous moderator for some reason so I was a little put off when I realized it.

If eternie is ok with it and he was an original poster so am I then.

@Clever/Witty Moniker Can I ask how you know that a post was removed by a moderator?

I'm not the OP (obviously) ... but I liked the list when it was first posted and think threads that can function as information reference. Should be able to be favourited by anyone who wants to have easier access certain threads.

in this case he commented then closed it. still readable but no comments. might have something to do with my explaining how I tend to get my skyrim family by murder but who actually knows. he did comment it was necro'd though.

it is a good list,i like companions not vanilla based ( i can make those all day long,and do :tgrin:)
i thought it worth the necro
so..anybody else other than recorder joined this list lately?

Whatever you decide do not get ultimate follower overhaul its very outdated. Extensive follower framework or amazing follower tweeks have allot of compability with other mods.

Lol just realized you only meant actual followers well my advice is still sound:)

@Trogdor perhaps you could sort the list alphabetically and add your most recent additions to the OP Heading for easier follower finding.
They also look quite interesting
