List of the best Follower mods
My biggest complaint with Skyrim is that there are so many characters, but none of them have very much depth. We don't learn much about any given character, and our interactions with them are few. And sadly, the characters who are the most guilty of this lack of depth are the characters you spend the most time with: the followers. Seriously, the housecarls may as well be robots.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn brought Serana and Frea and a few others with some location-aware dialogue, but I want more. I know of a few follower mods that have voiced/quest content, but when you search for followers on the Workshop or Nexus, 95% of what you find is attractive female robots, and the mod description is a few pictures and some text freshly oozed out of google translate. Further, mods on the nexus are sometimes oddly categorized (for example, there's a "Followers" category and a "Companions - Other" category - almost all of which are regular followers)

So I'll post the few I know of. Please feel free to add to this list in your replies. I'm not going to be too picky when it comes to quality; voice acting and quest content are not required (for example, I'll take a creature follower as long as the process to acquire it is somewhat interesting), but if you recommend a mod here it should have some story/lore/personality quality that sets it apart from the types of follower mods I described above.

What does NOT belong in this thread: Mods that only affect behavior/utility/appearance of existing followers (e.g. UFO, AFT, "beauty mods"), Followers whose only "extra quality" is their unique armor/weapons/spells/appearance.

It seems a reasonably full list... thought I'd point out you have Cerwiden 3 times but a good collection of followers otherwise

I am loving looking through This List of Followers Thanks Another link to fix is Throthgar it links to Cerwinden as well .... I think Cerwinden must be your favourite!

If you play Moonpath to Elsweyr then this Follower mod for Wisplicker adds something special

@Eternie no, it's just the one I happened to use as the list + url template in my clipboard. I'm surprised there are all of these errors, I thought I was pretty thorough.. makes me wonder if Steam is tripping me up with some autosave baloney or something

I didn't include Bri because she doesn't appear to have any quest or dialogue content. According to the mod description, she's modeled after someone's player character and the only thing special about her is that she has a daily schedule... which goes out the window once you enlist her as a follower.

It's probably important to note that I haven't played any of these mods yet, so I have nothing but the mod description to go on.

Sofia is fun for a while, but she eventually becomes really annoying. Tried telling her that it's time to part ways, but she refuses to do it, so I have her stay put in Breezehome. Only other option would be deleting the mod.

this list has inspired me to follow them all and try them all out in this playthrough ....

Using AFT ... I have already reached the follower limit once but several of the followers I'm finished with I take them to Luxury Suite get them dancing and dismiss them there so they provide entertainment and can be found easily if wanted. :home:

why do people keep necromancing mods? why do I not notice until later? any mod not commented on in over a month (not to mention a year) should have a big warning sign flashed on screen for people.

The difficulty with threads is unless you copy the address of a thread you like and keep that where you can find it. You cannot favourite a thread to keep as a handy list to refer to, unless it gets posted to; to keep it current.

It is a good list for anyone restarting a skyrim playthrough to look up and decide which follower would be a great addition in that current play.

Especially if the list is kept current ... by everyone playing!
