Where will your Dragonborn go to in the afterlife?
I have two files- One that I play for real (Male Nord Warrior, destroy dark brotherhood, murder no innocents, join dawnguard and destroy the vamps, join companions and heal lycanthropy and remain clean, etc.) and another on that I play on purely for fun (Khajit using only fists, join dark brotherhood and thieves guild, kill anyone I want to, join vampires, etc.)

In my main file, you will obviously notice that all my decisions are based on good, so my dragonborn is going to sovangarde after death. In the file I play purely for fun, I have no idea... Assuming I get killed as a vampire (because they cannot die of age), I don't even know where I'm going to go. Part of my soul belongs to sithis, part of it belongs to nocturnal,
Im the champion of all the other daedra, so part of my soul belongs to their realms of oblivion also. Heck, I probably might go to the soul cairn if im unlucky enough XD

I fully expect a civil war between a bunch of daedra lords, the heroes of Sovngard, the Nine Divines, and probably every other heavenly being that exists because I must've made deals with at least nine different heavenly beings by now and made way too many promises to too many of them.

At best, my character's soul gets divided amongst everyone or something.

I have personally thought about this a few times, and I personally think there will be a war between all the daedric lords, Sithis, and the Nine over thje soul of the obviously most powerfull mortal. Either Sithis or the gods will win, as Sithis is stronger than all of the daedra, as they supposidly came from his lone blood. There is also the flaming dragon avatar of Akatosh to think about, so the Gods will probably win and take the dragonborn to sovengarde.

Nocturnal thinks she has my soul, but if she would stop and check the contract she'll notice I never signed it. That's right, when it's time for you to agree to your contract and pledge your soul to her... there is no dialog option to say yes or no. It's not there. Contractually you're off the hook.

At this point, Karliah will turn to you and ask: "What about you? Are you ready to transact the Oath with Nocturnal?" If you respond by saying you don't understand the terms, she will go on to explain: "By transacting the Oath with Nocturnal, you're entering into a business deal. You'll be provided all of the power and knowledge befitting a Nightingale. You're free to use those powers as you see fit to further your own goals or the goals of the Thieves Guild." Asking what will be required in return, she will tell you: "In return, you'll be required to defend the Twilight Sepulcher and everything within when the need arises. More importantly, upon your death, your spirit will be bound to the Twilight Sepulcher as one of its guardians." Also asking if there's no going back, she will confirm: "Once the Oath has been struck, the terms are binding. Knowing this, are you ready to undergo the ceremony?" Once you agree, she will say: "Good. After I open the gate, please stand on the western circle." You are now directed to stand on the vacant floor glyph.
When all three of you are in position, Karliah will summon Nocturnal herself and shortly afterwards Nocturnal will appear within the chamber:

"My Lady, I've come before you to throw myself upon your mercy and to accept responsibility for my failure."
Karliah: "I call upon you Lady Nocturnal, Queen of Murk and Empress of Shadow... hear my voice!"
Nocturnal: "Ah, Karliah. I was wondering when I'd hear from you again. Lose something did we?"
Karliah: "My Lady, I've come before you to throw myself upon your mercy and to accept responsibility for my failure."
Nocturnal: "You're already mine, Karliah. Your terms were struck long ago. What could you possibly offer me now?"
Karliah: "I have two others that wish to transact the Oath; to serve you both in life and in death."
Nocturnal: "You surprise me, Karliah. This offer is definitely weighted in my favor."
Karliah: "My appetite for Mercer's demise exceeds my craving for wealth, Your Grace."
Nocturnal: "Revenge? How interesting... very well, the conditions are acceptable. You may proceed."
Karliah: "Lady Nocturnal, we accept your terms. We dedicate ourselves to you as both your avengers and your sentinels. We will honor our agreement in this life and the next until your conditions have been met."
Nocturnal: "Very well. I name your initiates Nightingale and I restore your status to the same, Karliah. And in the future, I'd suggest you refrain from disappointing me again."
Nocturnal will now disappear from the chamber, and you are directed to speak again with Karliah. She will initiate the conversation by saying: "Now that you've transacted the Oath, it's time to reveal the final piece of the puzzle to you; Mercer's true crime." Exclaiming at the possibility of him doing any more damage, she will continue: "Mercer was able to unlock the Guild's vault without two keys because of what he stole from the Twilight Sepulcher... the Skeleton Key. By doing this, he's compromised our ties to Nocturnal and in essence, caused our luck to run dry." Asking if the Key unlocks any door, she will tell you: "Well, yes. But the Key isn't only restricted to physical barriers. All of us possess untapped abilities; the potential to wield great power, securely sealed within our minds. Once you realize the Key can access these traits, the potential becomes limitless." From this, you are able to choose from up to three different ways to respond:

You agreed when you said to Karliah that you agreed to the terms. This is enough of a legitimate signature from you.

You'll probably go to Sovngarde even if you didn't die in battle.

Tsun himself guarantees it even after you tell him that you are in a permament contact with Nocturnal and/or are the Listener to the Void.

Lots of spoilers in this thread.

Hm...

I wasn't actually planning on dying.

Hahaha, mine may be taken up as the 10th divine. ;-)

Or, more than likely slapped hard back into the Dreamsleave to wait for another shot at Mundus.

Yeah, from what I understood of the Thieves Guild, that contract with Lady Nocturnal sounded pretty binding to me. I've installed mods before that let me off the hook.

Back to Oblivion I guess. I'm currently using a custom race which is daedric in nature.
SpeedFreak1972 Nov 12, 2014 @ 4:31am
Hunting grounds of hircine I guess
la_nague Nov 12, 2014 @ 4:45am
The soul belongs to Akatosh, the dragonborn cant even give the soul away as its not his, so the deadra are all fooled and wont get anything.

Well I think alduin won't play cards with you ... knowing him he has a serious grudge against you ....

Not at all! I tell my real estate agent I agree to buy the house. We both go to the title company to sign paper, but I NEVER sign the papers. Do I own the house? No! Agreeing to sign a contract is not the same as signing a contract. It doesn't matter what I agreed to with a third party, the contract is between Nocturnal and myself.

She'll never know she's Dragonborn because I never got her to touch the main quest...

In my favourite save (I usually have a different save for every main guild not to make the game too unrealistic) it would be Sovngard or the Hunting grounds, but personally I would prefer Sovngard as I believe it is more fitting for the RP style I adopted in said save. I like to imagine the Dragonborn would challenge Hircine for 1v1 combat and if he wins he goes to Sovngard.

Nocturnal =/= real life people who use contracts. Nocturnal's "contracts" =/= real life contracts.
