What is the max armor rating?

I'm in a bit of a conflict, because, while I love my light armor, the heavy armor has higher rating (obviously), and I heard that in the end-game, there is a max armor rating, and regardless of what you're wearing, you have the same rating.

Is that true?

Max effective armor rating is 58? The armor rating can go higher, but it does no good as your effective armor rating is capped at 58? That five hundred and eighty something.

There are some enchanted armors that go up higher and absorb anything but they are cheats.

Hehe, that has no effect if your armor rating is 1 million or over. Ah yes, I used to love that restoration potion glitch. I had to take off my armor to fight Miraak because I kept killing him with one hit. :3
