In the mean time, slow down (Hold shift) and stay behind enemies as much as possible.
Illusion magic is also helpful. Calm will make you able to sneak attack most things since they just won't attack you.
Get the Dark Brotherhood gear. Use better daggers than iron or steel.
Cast muffle, sneak to the enemy..attack. If spotted cast invisibility and move away...cast calm on the enemy (dual cast)...repeat.
Use bound daggers for more damage, put points into "one-handed" perk.
Can use bows from a distance in sneak mode to get a few shots off, then go for daggers then.
One-handed perk affects daggers since when?
Hmm.. I never noticed any damage increase when perking the er.. Bladesman? perk was it?
We live and learn - the sneak perks work for sure :-)
That's outside Falkreath. I think its just a miscellaneous objective more than an actual quest. Valdr's Lucky Dagger, it has a 25% chance of a critical hit.

The immersive weapon mod adds some nice daggers too, so you might want to check that out.
Grabbing the Dark brotherhood gear you can stack to a 30x multiplier on sneak with daggers.
Combine with either Blade of Woe or a Daedric dagger (legendary) and you're looking at like 3500-4000 damage per hit
