I'm using these mods because I wanted a more realistic map and navigation experience. It works well with my other mods such as Frostfall and iNeed. I also disabled the compass, and I use the "sense direction" ability from Hunterborn to determine my facing. I have pretty good draw distance (ugridstoload=7) which helps with navigation, and "Roadsigns Redone" (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33603/) helps me find my way as well.
and roadsigns redone i have been using and is a must whether you use player markers and quest markers or not.
Thanks K.S.
I have Atlas Map Markers[www.nexusmods.com] which add a lot more map markers but also resizes them so that the map looks more populared and a lot of the little interesting things in the enviroment now have a marker on them instead of just being walked past
Along with this I use High Quality 3d Map[www.nexusmods.com] to just make the map a bit smoother and more detailed, and it works brillantly with my favorite map mod A Quality World Map with Roads[www.nexusmods.com]
I primarily use the two above because I hope it all off with Ezes Remove 3D Map Camera Limits[www.nexusmods.com] so that I can rotate the map any way that I want and zoom all the way in and out if I want to look at a specific area or get a better angle on which direction a road takes
