need help picking the right race(s)
just tried this out yesterday and i'm amazed how good this game is...probably the best 5 bucks i've spent!

anyways i'm a bit unsure about which race to pick...for combat i prefer to bow and arrows and magic seems fun also. as for other skills i've always enjoyed the theiveing skill :D

should i lvl them alll out on one character or make a couple of different races...but then i don't want to do the same quest over and over again :P

You don't have to take specific race for certain gaming style, some have special abilities like Argonians with poison resist or Khajiits with nightsight but overall its upt to you which race you prefer most.

I like to specialise in a few skills rather than average them out - although having a average bow with sword and sheild skills makes you a good all rounder.

can i STRONGLY recommend getting skse and sky ui even if you dont plan to use other mods - it makes the game play like it was ment for pc's

It's not really about the race... After a few hours of gameplay, you won't even feel the different powers you get. The only difference in Race distribution, is how people talk towards you. Dark elves may get offended more often than bretons by Nords etc...
(The quests change 0%, everything is the same, no limitations)
Pick the race you want, I like bretons the most because they get a 25% Magic block.

ah i see some powers which were great only last 60secs and only once a day...btw how long does a day last in real time?

ah so those different racial bonuses are a slight boost at best, rite?

I like bretons and argonians because of their abilities. Overall i usually pick bretons because I think they look more "attractive" then argonians lol. But in reality, it doesn's matter what race you play as. The magic resistance of bretons does help ALOT on higher difficulties against mages you face. But pick the race you find coolest.

Nord are good for melee builds because they have 25 skills at start I believe, also the cold resistance has saved me so many times, a lot of enemies and dragons use cold and primary attack and you can eat it all up. I make build like mage, warrior and assasin and I pick the race best suited for that class.

oh sweet theres assassin class aswell? they using throwing weaps or stealth and daggers?

Assassins tend to focus on stealthy archery or daggers, sometimes in conjunction with poisons from Alchemy.

There are no actual classes in Skyrim (at least not without mods), your skills will improve as you use them and every character has access to every skill. If you want to play an assassin, play like you think an assassin should play and that character will be an assassin.

While there is an Assassin's Guild, there is no skill or stat requirement to join that guild. And as long as you don't fumble too badly, you can do their quests while wearing a full set of heavy armor and wielding a two-handed axe. Or you could learn to poison people (with one of the Pickpocket perks) using home-made poisons.

Truth be told, the game doesn't have a class system, as such. If you like, you can raise some skills that an assassin class might use, then go around killing people before they ever see you. Then - using the exact same character - you can practise some spells, and run around as a pyromage blowing stuff up. While keeping all your stealthy abilities, and using them whenever you feel like it. Then you can learn to pick pockets, or armour up and run around as a warrior, whatever. Raising one skill in no way limits your character's ability to use another - although perk points are somewhat hard to come by, they can always be reshuffled into different skills if you later decide you don't like where they're assigned.

Play long enough on the one character and they'll have all skills and abilities maxed out. In the long run, all that really matters is whether you like their appearance (a cosmetic detail, and even that can be changed mid-game), though characters in the world will respond differently to different races (... again, a cosmetic detail, but one you can't so easily change). Personally I do like the Nord's frost resistence, though.

For $5, I'm assuming you got regular Skyrim on special, but without any DLC. If you later decide you want the additional content, get the Legendary Edition of the game. It'll all it on to your current installation, and is far cheaper than buying the DLC one by one (even if you already have the base game - which it won't give you a second copy of).

erh yeah kind of regret not buying the legendary edition when it was on sale for only 13 bucks :(

btw i was reading the wiki and on khajiit page it said they are terrible at magic...is that just madeup lore or is there some truth to it?(besides bonus racial stats)

i think i might create a 2nd character so i can play from the pov of the opposing or evil faction so i could go mage on one and archer assassin on other

I ALWAYS pick Nord as they fit into everything and it makes perfect sense. For example, there is nothing more ridiculous than a Dark Elf joining the Stormcloaks, a Khajiit Werewolf or a High Elf Dragonborn...

Any character can master any skill though. At least it makes sense that a Nord may take to the Bow, I mean there is a Nord mage in Whiterun...
