Could be, but i wouldn't know how to tackle that problem either. (Or even check for it) I had really hoped it was a mod conflict. Would be pretty easy to fix, then.
On the other hand, when i last played skyrim (which was well over a year ago) i could enter the winking skeever. I had a completely different mod load then, though.
I reinstalled Skyrim from scratch and added all these mods over the course of 2 or 3 days. I only booted the game to see if it loads at all in between. I only started to really play it a few days ago and encountered the skeever CTD then, with all mods already there.
I may try disabling all mods and start a new, fresh, unmodded save just to see if that fixes it. Then i could reenable them one by one and find the bad one. Thank you for the Idea. I'll try that once i have the free time. Probably on the weekend.
When i started playing, i didn't do the main quest, and i ignored the alternate start quest a long time. I tried doing it, so i could, theoretically, start the main quest, if i wanted to. (I also updated a couple of mods that had newer versions available, including the alternate start mod)
When i tried entering the winking skeever after all that, it finally worked. Just thought I'd post this so people could find it when they have a similar issue.
