Problem with the Winking Skeever (Mod Related CTD)
So, i managed to get Skyrim running beautifully with a rather large number of mods (114 mods in NMM as i am writing this) and everything runs just fine, no crashes, no fps drops, good performance, mods patched so everything is compatible.

Just one thing i can't seem to figure out. When i enter the Winking Skeever in Solitude, my game just crashes to desktop. No way around it. Tried coc-ing into the Inn, but the same thing happens.

So i decided to disable every single mod one by one and try entering the Inn over 100 times in total, but it's always the same. I think it must be a mod conflict, but i have no idea how to figure out which one. I tried finding out about this on the net but wasn't able to find anything.

I was hoping someone here could take a look at my Mods list and maybe spot something that could cause the game to crash ONLY when entering the winking skeever. I have not found another location that crashes the game, so it has to be something specific to that zone.

I would really appreciate any help with this. I need the Winking Skeever for the Quests that take place there.

I didn't see a single mod conflict. Your mods list was well chosen for that. Could you just be hitting a straight glitch that's not mod related?

Could be, but i wouldn't know how to tackle that problem either. (Or even check for it) I had really hoped it was a mod conflict. Would be pretty easy to fix, then.

On the other hand, when i last played skyrim (which was well over a year ago) i could enter the winking skeever. I had a completely different mod load then, though.
Not all mods that change just one thing really have no effect on other parts of the game. It is still very possible that a mod is conflicting with Winking Skeever. Have you tried a new game or an old save before your mods and added one at a time to see if you can enter the Skeever?

I reinstalled Skyrim from scratch and added all these mods over the course of 2 or 3 days. I only booted the game to see if it loads at all in between. I only started to really play it a few days ago and encountered the skeever CTD then, with all mods already there.

I may try disabling all mods and start a new, fresh, unmodded save just to see if that fixes it. Then i could reenable them one by one and find the bad one. Thank you for the Idea. I'll try that once i have the free time. Probably on the weekend.

It appears that the Alternate start mod was at fault. I was just about to disable all mods, when i decided to take a look at my papyrus logs one last time (i barely understand anything in them, i just thought maybe I'd see something that i would recognize) and indeed, i saw something about the mainquest being... unable to... something.

When i started playing, i didn't do the main quest, and i ignored the alternate start quest a long time. I tried doing it, so i could, theoretically, start the main quest, if i wanted to. (I also updated a couple of mods that had newer versions available, including the alternate start mod)

When i tried entering the winking skeever after all that, it finally worked. Just thought I'd post this so people could find it when they have a similar issue.

my problem was ***IMMERSIVE PATROLS*** finally after 2 hrs of searching online and disabling mods i found it. guess it was packing the place with guards or something... i dont know much about modding but hope this helps someone else lmao
