Hearthfire.esm unchecked in data files (Solved)
So I don't know if this will work for everyone but it worked for me and I hope it can help some unfortunate soul too.

What I did was I went to "Data Files" option in the Skyrim Launcher and moved the hearthfire.esm between Dragonborn and Dawnguard. I also checked all my other mods and enabled the mods in NMM. I closed and reopened the launcher to make sure that it remained checked.

When it did, I played Skyrim and loaded an autosave. It loaded and hearthfire remained checked after that. I hope that helps :D

It sounds pretty simple, because the other alternative that Bethesda Tech Support sent me was deleting everything and starting from scratch which is too saddening for me :D

I had the dlc but didn't use it at first. Before I checked them in the data I was fortunate enough to have read up on load order.. it was sad to me to see the default load order in the data wrong. I can imagine something so simple causing a lot of issues, and wonder if many people who complain about the game being a buggy mess, even unmodded, are due to this.

i have the same problem since yesterday with heartfire.esm and the highrestexturepack.esp 01 02 and 03 before the game run really well with much mods till this files start with the problems.
they allways uncheck that they dont show up in nexus mod manager.
i deletet the skyrim save game folder the skyrim appdata folder the nexusmod folders but nothing help they uncheck all the time.
i was suprised that steam has restored my deletet save games and the config files is there a cloud save that i can clean up?
i did a fresh install of skyrim with all dlcs and a fresh install of nexus mod manager without solving the problem they still uncheck.
i dont know what i can do more are there any hidden files i have do delete?
i have no mods installed at the moment only dawnguard.esm dragonborn.esm hearthfires.esm and the highrestexturepacks 1 2 and 3.
the nexus mod manager only show skyrim.esm update.esm dawnguard.esm and dragonborn.esm. that problem drive me crazy oO

In Library>Rt click on Skyrim>Properties DLC. Make sure all your DLC's are checked to be installed.
In your NMM at the top there is a Tools symbol click on Automatic Plugin Sorting. Make sure your DLC's are in the order:

Skyrim.esm
Update.esm
Dawnguard.esm
Hearthfires.esm
Dragonborn.esm

then try playing.

hi,im new to pc gaming and i got skyrm from my friend and he claimed that the dlc packs were included in the files. I've played skyrim on xbox for more than 3 years now and i know how to see whether the dlc is active or not, like heartfire you can go to a smith and make building materials. but on my pc in game,i tried to make building materials but the option was not available. And the option of adopting a child was nether available. So i went to my skyrim folder and under data i found the dlc names but in bsa and esm file format. And on nmm it does show all three dlc packs under plug ins. i did try selecting them and launching skyrim from nmm but nothing. Can someone please help me to fix this. Is it possible that there are hidden files missing?
