Bleak Falls Temple quests
I've attempted two different quests that involve this location, only to become stuck on both.

The first involved retrieving the Golden Claw. I used it to open a door and progress through the level, and when I returned to the tradesman who asked for it, it was missing from my inventory. I returned to the door where I used it, and it was gone from there as well. Am I missing something? Or is it disposable and vanishes once used to open the door?

Then I was sent by the court wizard to get a Dragonstone from the same templt. I'd already cleared out the temple and found no such stone. I returned to look for it, but didn't see it anywhere. Is this quest incompletable because I accepted it in the wrong order? Or am I just overlooking the Dragonstone?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you find a Dragon Wall? And if you did did you "learn the word"?

First off, It's Bleak Falls BARROW. :P

Unless the dropped it by accident, or forgot to pick it up from "Arvel the Swift", the claw shouldn't have dissapeared. And the Dragonstone should be in the final chest across from the dragon wall.

But if all else fails, both can probably be inserted with console commands should need be.

Hope I helped! :D

I thought the barrow was the whole set of levels, the first of which was the temple. :)

Yes, I got the claw from Arvel the Swift and I used it to open the door with the bear, owl, and moth symbol wheels. My question is: If I use it for this purpose (to open the sanctum or whatever the inner barrow level is called) does it simply vanish? Seems so.

Ezio, what's the dragon wall? How far into the barrow is this? Is it in the early temple portion? Or beyond the door with the bear/moth/owl symbol wheels? Far as I know, I went through the whole set of barrow levels and came out the other side, way up on a mountain outdoors. I never saw any branches or alternate ways to go. The whole barrow set of levels seemed very linear.

Thanks, guys.

The golden claw doesnt disappear when you use it, and the dragon wall is at the very end of the level, you'll hear viking grunts when you get close to it and see weird letters shining. If you go right in front of those letters you'll learn a shout. Closeby should be a big chest, in it will be the dragonstone.

yea between the the dragon wall and having to fight a boss there you will know your in the right place and as was mentioned before after you kill the boss look in the chest right there stone should be there as far as the claw disapearing from your inventory as far as I know you cant remove it even if you want to because it is a quest item.

The claw shouldn't dissapear, unless you accidently dropped it or stored it somewhere by mistake. And if you really can't find it, it may just be a bug you can fix with some console commands.

As far as the dragon wall goes, it should be in the last room of the dungeon, right before you exit out the cliff. You will hear the viking chanting and see glowing words when you get close, it should be across from the skeleton boss, and the chest with the dragon stone should be next to the skeleton boss's coffin.

As far as I know the game the stone tablet is not in the chest it is on the boss.
Go to wall and learn word then to coffin, fight the boss then loot him and major chest.
Before leaving up the stairs go behind waterfall for another chest to loot.

You shouldn't be able to drop the claw as it's a quest item, right?.. check the desk and make sure it didn't auto return when you walked in? Normally it shows up on the guys desk after you talk to him about it.

Ah, your right. Sorry given it's in the beggining, it's been awhile and my memory failed me. I do believe it is on the boss, not in the chest. My mistake.

Had a save just before the fight and replayed it.. definitely on the Boss, boss triggered by shout learning. Also during that, once the Boss breaks out of the coffin the "return the claw" pops up on the HUD as well

Ah... so if he didn't learn the word on the wall, the boss wouldn't have been triggered, and he wouldn't have recieved the Dragon Stone, or the objective to return the claw! :O

Hopefully this solved his problem.

Yep. I missed the wall and the word, having climbed the stairs and headed out (twice).

Thanks!

lol. Funny cuz I search every nook and cranny everywhere I go -- every ledge, skeleton, dead end, etc. -- but I looked right at that dragon wall on two visits and assumed it was decorative. :)

it really is easy to walk past, esp. since the player is directed to that quest almost right from the start, most players the first time through would find it easy to miss
