If you have the "Dragonfall" scream you can use this too and fight with swords or something like this.
I hope i can help you and good luck with the fight. :D
Use a bow or magical staff to shoot it while it is in the air and when it lands use a melee weapon. Watch out for its head and tail. It's best to attack from the side so it doesn't eat you.
I am usually playing without follower, with sort of mage\thief character. Alchemy and summons have great role in my game. While my summoned minions do not last for long against dragon, they draw it's attention long enough for it to pause. This allows me to use my poisoned arrows safely (preferably from stealth and behind...) and then depleting their health it with my shock spells in flight.
If you are a pure mage, then you may wish to specialize to both fire and frost for maximized damage, but go-betweens usually rely just to shock, to spare their perks.
If you are one to rely on magic, at least a little, then vanilla ward spells protect you against dragon shouts. Those shouts are actually a collection of lesser spells, so higher level wards give you a good protection. Dual casting ward removes the loading time from it, so spend at least some amount of your level ups to magica and perks to Restoration dual casting and (depending on your build) levels to reduce the ward costs.
playing with a controller i gotta say its impossible to shoot the dragon in flight.
