No Solitude jobs? (Thieves guild)
I've played through this questline a million times before with no problem, but this playthrough I have 5 Solitude jobs to become guild master and it just isn't happening. I've tried for an hour and a half, just reloading saves and asking for jobs but I keep getting a cycle of Windhelm, Markarth, Riften and Whiterun OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Does anyone know any console command for this or anything? (I know it's all luck-based, but still)

Rinse and repeat. There are no console commands. Just reload and hope for the best.
Also, have you been to Solitude?

It happens. I was missing that last Markarth job I needed for ages, guess it's just bad luck.

Yeah, I'm Thane there. Oh well , I'll go keep trying for the next few hours.
Also, apparently one file failed to validate in the validate game cache thing, could that be related at all?

No. The 1 file that fails to validate is normal. It's required by Steam for graphic configuration. Ignore it.

Ah, alright. I found the problem anyway.

For anyone wondering, if you are having trouble getting thieves guild jobs for solitude or windhelm, it is because you didn't listen to Ulfric's or Tullius' speech in the civil war questline. All you have to do is return to the place where you killed either and listen to the speech and the problem should be fixed.

Same problem with you, also i can't complete an extra job from delvin n vex without taking another extra job. it makes the quest stuck in my journal. please help.

At the end of the civil war questline, did you listen to the speech and wait for everyone to leave? As for your other problem, tell me what type of quest you currently have in your journal (burglary job, shill job, numbers job, etc.) and I'll get the console command to force-end the quest.

Thanks for the help. It's the speech that did it.

nvm

It has nothing to do with a 'speech'. Ive completed Thieves Guild 200 times and I last heard the speech back in 2012.

Yeah, the speech fixed it. I had to go inside first so Ulfric would come out.

Like Docsprock said, it's not a speech by anybody that does it. That's just coincidence that's being misinterpreted. What city you get as your destination for the Thieve's Guild jobs is just pure random chance, and isn't dependent on anything else. I've only done the Civil War questline twice, and both times, it was always the second-to-last one I did. Never, in all that time, have I seen anything but chance determine what city you need to visit for the Thieve's Guild Jobs. The Thieve's Guild is tied to only one other base game questline, and that's just because of Devlin's personal connections.

I was doing the quick save -> load -> load -> load and repeat to get Solitude jobs for like 15m and it wouldn't come up. I think I've only done like 1 Solitude quest before too. But I just went and talked to the general there (there was no speech, just normal war aftermath discussion since the Imperials won) and when I came back to try again, I got Solitude from Vex and Delvin within 4 tries. Maybe just a coincidence?
Also, could be unrelated, but my "Help the people of Haafinger" was stuck at 5/5, despite me buying the manor and being Thane. I did the wolf / mead quest a few hours ago to clear it at 6/5. Could that have "bugged" the radiant selections?

Coincidence. Ive had 6/5 many times and it has not affected the Thieves guild in any way.

As has been stated in this thread several times, it is just luck. Anything else that anyone sees, hears, or thinks of is pure coincidence.
