Do you prefer to exploit/cheat or play legit?
I personally like to do a little of both. On my main save, sometimes I will fool around with console commands and spawn in huge NPC battles or fly around Windhelm, nuking everything I see with infinty fireball spells. Of course, playing legit on the other hand gives you some satisfaction that can't be replaced. What do you guys prefer?

I personally use some god mods. Such as being able to wear infinite amulets and rings. But I refuse to use console commands. For me it breaks the immersiveness of the game. Go figure. Gods mods don't while console commands do. To each his/her own.

There is no way to cheat in a one person game. The game is the way you want it to be without cheating anyone. So enjoy got to Nexus and Steam Mods and add anything you want it to be.

And Darknight I do not use cheat mods myself but if I get stuck by one of those screaming Drugar in between two rocks I will not hesitate to use TCl to get myself out. I am not going back to a past save.

I've done both. I'm currently playing legit, but I have no qualms about exploiting something in the game. For example. I'm using hunterborn and if I kill an animal from horseback the loot window opens and I take the pelt. I then get off the horse and hunterborn kicks in and I can collect a second pelt which counts towards hunterborn xp.

Well, everyone to their own opinion I guess.

I just can't help but feel guilty when using console commands (except if I absolutely HAVE to)
But that's probably just because I'm one of those people who takes role-playing WAY too seriously.

Yeah, I don't mind glitching too much either. It's just console commands and OP mods I mostly feel guilty about :/

I would say I'm 95% legit. I have spell sneak attacks, 5 enchanting effects per item, left hand rings, stronger alchemy and pickpocket. Rest is legit. I do use console if i'm testing a new armor mod to see how it looks. If I like it, it goes in a barrel and poof goes the barrel and I get the armor by intended means.

The biggest and best cheat mod I used to use was the Gifts Of Akatosh probably one of the oldest cheats. That is the greatest cheat mod I have ever seen. I still have it but do not use it at least not for now. I am almost free of advantages as I have gone up in hours. But I will use TCL if I am totally stuck.
I like the challenge of the game; I install mods that won't give me an advantage and just alter the look & feel to make it more immersive and realistic. Occasionally I'll save and then play around with a bunch of crazy mods and fun stuff.

I only cheat in that I use mods that make the game less tedious.

I changed the vanilla Dark Brotherhood armors and Thieves guild armors so that they have 2 enchantments instead of one. I tried to keep them balanced though.

I use a mod called Blacksmiths Chests with rentable storage containers for your smithing items. Normally the mod only gives you the container for 1000 gold, but I modded it to give me a limited amount of ingots for smithing in each City, which seemed reasonable to me since it cost 1000 gold.

Convenient Horses to make my horse get tired less and run faster. Life is short, I am already investing hundreds of hours playing and I don't need my character riding so slowly and getting tired every 20 ft. It is almost as bad as COD sprinting.

Bag of Holding to carry more items.

Lightweight potions and poisons because they take up massive amounts of space and it is a hassle sorting and transferring them all the time.

Infinite gold for merchants because only being able to sell a small handful of things per city and the fact that travelling to each city to sell items is almost impossible because of shop hours.

I try not to go too far with the mods. I do use the Bag of Trash mod to give me back 25% of the junk items I collect and an improved smithing mod.

Other than that the mods I use are just basic such as belt quivers, better containers, guard dialogue/open faced helmets etc. and the Unofficial Patches of course. Nothing too lore breaking.

Currently: Skyrim Unbound, iNeed+Dangerous Diseases, Hunterborn, Wet & Cold, and some armor/weapons/clothing mods. Nothing OP, just the ability to upgrade normal clothes so that they act as armor (leather = Light/dragon scales = Heavy). Also using Left Hand Rings.
Edit: Forgot Bandoliers, Bags & Pouches and Backpacks

So it's an "Are you a bad enough dude to not use the console?" thread. Well Skyrim fourm, now I have truly seen it all. This must be how Alexander felt after Hydasepes. Truly there is no more to know.

I've never used console commands because I'm too lazy. If I get stuck or glitched or something, I'd rather just go back to a previous save because it only takes a couple clicks. To use console crap, I have to exit the game, go look that crap up, write it down(which means finding a paper and pencil, a whole other bunch of crap to dig through), get back into the game, enter the command, get 'unstuck' or whatever, [possibley then have to go back in and un-do the command to get back to normal], etc., etc..

As far as "cheating"; I've never found "god mode" to be much fun in any game, especially one like this where the bulk of it is about building your character up. There are plenty of other mindless smashy-smashy games where you can stomp around and blow up crap, so why bother going through the hassle above just to do it in this game.

Now if you want to get all philosophical...
You are only "cheating" yourself when you break the rules in a single player game.

Exploits on the other hand... if they're not too immersion breaking, I might abuse them a bit. I do take advantage of poor pathing constantly. Like keeping an NPC at a distance by hopping on and off a tiny ledge that they will only take the long way around. I usually only do that if I;m out numbered, or much weaker.

Sure there is. If you're playing solitaire you peak at the cards. If you're doing a crossword puzzle you peek at the answers. If you're playing Skryim you use TGM.

I don't mind people cheating in their one player game. It's their lack of honor, not mine. What bugs the ♥♥♥♥ out of me is when they brag about beating the game on Legendary or complain that it's too easy.

You're trying to insinuate that this is a moral failing of Skryim, when it fact it's a moral failing of the cheaters. Your beloved New Vegas had a console in it too.
