Help with cart ride
As the title suggests. I want to start a new character, as I completely ruined my old save, and the cart ride at the beginning of the game is messed up (no-one on the carts, etc). I don't want to uninsrall-reinstall mods just to see what's doing it, but if I start a pre-made save at character creation (the one the game makes by default) will I have any issues later on with mods?

No idea if you will have issues later or not, but if you have a mod that screwed up the intro sequence that badly, there's no telling what other parts of the games might be screwed up as well. It would probably be worth trying to figure out what is causing the problem.

If you want to give it a shot anyway, go for it ... but I doubt anyone here can know for sure whether you will have more issues or not.

Yeah, I figured that. It was worth a shot. I can't imagine what mods could be messing up the intro, though. The only one I read about was Helgen Reborn, and I have that disabled.

The vanilla start to the game is notoriously fiddly.
Anything that changes the : road, physics, cart, horses (sometimes), character physics, enviroment in the area, helgen, and even sometimes the npcs in the scene, can cause the scene to bug out.

Your best change is to post your entire load order here so that we can have a look at it and see what might be the direct cause for it.

Unlike what Kamikaze Snark suggested, some incredibly well made mods mess up the starting scene, without having any other negitive effect on the game. Like many other things, the starting quest is very buggy and particularly prone to being messed up.

As far as disabling your mods from the start of the game, thats a commonly suggested solution, is to start your game as vanilla with only the unofficial patches, and then enable your mods after you get past the starting scene. However, some mods must be installed at the start of a game to work at all, and others work best when installed at the start even though its not technically essential.

Alright, posting my load order, then. For some reason, NMM doesn't show the load ordeer the same way LOOT does...

Been getting reports of that a lot lately, not sure why, I dont use NMM myself so I cant help troubleshoot it. It does make me worry however that that means that NMM is superceeding LOOT and thats the load order thats actually being put into your game, which would explain your problems.

Make sure youre running LOOT as an admin, with NMM closed and see if that helps, and also see if your data files is showing your loot load order or your nmm one
(data files despite being buggy as hell, will at least be showing the load order the way the game is reading it, you will need to resort your mods with LOOT after opening it though as it will put all of your unticked esps to the bottom)

Data in the actual launcher shows them the same way LOOT does.

It is probably not your mods but your FPS.

Skyrim can't handle monitors with a high refresh rate. Try capping your refresh rate to 60HZ.

Crap, forgot to mention this, yes your fps must be limited to 60 as well.
If you have a 60 hz monitor you can do this by turning on v-sync.
Or use the FPS limiter from the nexus
or if you have an ENB or ENBoost you can do it via that

Alrighty then. Yay for NMM bugs.
In that case can you please copy the LOOT details tab (clean out all unnessisarily spaces please, but leave spaces in between each set of mod data) and post it which will show the proper load order

You do not need to disable any mods to get the intro working correctly. Just re-run DXSETUP from your DirectX10 folder in your Steam-Skyrim game folder before playing the intro.

You're not running LOOT and NMM at the same time are you? Run LOOT first, then open NMM for it to pick up the changes made by LOOT.

Helgen reborn deactivate it and add once out of cave. Made to work with alternate start but will crash at start if in helgen area.
Modders cannot do changes to this intro, they can add mods which don't mess with the intro.
PS. LOOT may not detect this issue

Even a quick glance at that load order would scream problems. Update, Dragonborn, Dawnguard and all The Unofficial Patches way out of order. :(
★Kelvy★ Jan 24, 2015 @ 5:27pm
OP been told to sort load order as well with LOOT, but even with it sorted (LOOT) this will occur with Helgen Reborn.
PS Said he mess originally messed a save up and restarted new game this is where Helgen Reborn issue comes to the forefront.

My easy fix for the cart ride is to use Alternate start live another life. because so many scripts start at game beginning and you begin in an exterior cell the game has a mental breakdown.

Alternate start begins in a small interior space where you can then choose the normal way. I haven't had any problems when using the alternate start mod.
