Deciding on followers to become Blades
From my understanding of inducting some new Blades members, the followers would no longer reside at your home or base camp/home, and would be at Blades HQ. However, they can still be asked to follow you as before. I would assume, in that case, that you can give them better gear later also, as you level up more or find better stuff for them. Although I do recall something about how they may get Blades equipment, but I guess still something might come along that will be better at some future time.

Would there be any considerations to take before giving them up to become Blades members? For example, would I want some followers that can be high-level, such as 50 or even modded followers who can keep progressing up? Or will some that max at 30 be OK? Would I want a mixture of dps, tank, mage, archer, etc or will any 3 followers do? Would I want to give up the followers I like, or the ones that I don't really like?

For example, Uthgerd the Unbroken was a nice help at the beginning but after finding additional followers who are also heavy-armor meleers, including Companons, I find that I barely use Uthgerd at all. A similar case could be said for Faendal and Aela.

Any insight on this would be appreciated, thanks!

The Blades are the Stormcloaks of the DragonBorn story arc. Let them die off into memory

Just make sure whoever you choose has Heavy Armor and One handed as their major skill or they will be weaker.

These are the followers I would select from. Frea is probably my #1 choice.

All House Carls except Valdimar
Celann
Frea
J'zargo
Mjoll the Lioness
Vorstag

Mjoll the Lioness might be a good choice too, but she is not good with one handed weapons. I am not sure how that will affect her though as she may lose Grimsever when she is recruited. She is unkillable though, which makes her ideal.

I chose Golldir, Roggi Knot-Beard, and Benor based on skills and temperment.

What difference does it make? The blades are going nowhere.

personally I use the Blades to offload unwanted housecarls but other than a new set of armour and somewhere else to live I don't believe it makes any difference

Uthgred the Broken is a popular choice. She did want to prove herself.

If you send Mjoll then Aerin will follow and die on the way.

You can use Benor from Mortal, since he is unemployed :)
Dont have any other Follower whit you since you can give away wrong follower.

Why does Aerin die?

This is from Wiki about Aerin.

If Mjoll joins the Blades, Aerin can be found in Sky Haven Temple. If Mjoll and the other Blades meet up with the Dragonborn to slay a dragon, Aerin accompanies them. He rarely survives such encounters.

That is well know.
