Xbox one controller
Can the Xbox One controller work on PC games that are made for the Xbox 360 (i.e, Skyrim)?

I know a 360 controller and other gaming pads can work for Skyrim, I have no idea if a XBO controller can as well, does the XBO controller have it's own software? Like some regular earbuds you can pop into anything and it works, but a PC headset that has it's own software for audio tuning means it would only work on a PC, not a TV with a USB port or a Console with their USB port.

Do you know if the XBO controller has software that it needs to run? Or just plug and play?

As far as I know, it's basically a regular Xbox One controller with a downloadable driver.

Yes. You need to plug it into the PC and download a driver for it. I can also confirm that the XBO controller does work with Skyrim. I just plugged mine in and tried it out to make sure before commenting.

I once use my atari game controllers for my commodore 64. I found some remote controll ones and messed around with my friends when they tried to play games. The remotes overrode the plugged in controlers and I would cause them to play erractically. What's my point of my story. Never say never. Someone will always find a way to make electronic devices work with things they were not intended for.
Another country even found a way to create disk from game cartridges (console games) so they would work on PC's. This country has no copyright laws, locally or internationally. That was a about 40 years ago. But the message is still the same. MONEY or fame drives the need to do something almost impossible to do by most others.

When I use my XBox one controller, it works for about 2 minutes then it stops taking input.

Any idea whats up with this?

I'm having the same problem, except I only get about 30 seconds of gameplay on Skyrim. It's not the controller or the cable because I just played about a half hour of Witcher 3 on GOG, so no idea what the disconnect is.

Download the drivers here and then just plug in the controller.

I use a wired xbox 360 controller that is plugged into a USB2 port (Black), what you need to be aware of, is that if you are plugging it into a USB3 port (Blue) you will have drop outs using it, loads of topics on this if you Google it.. :)

Hi, you don't have to do any of that. The default skyrim profile has a vorpx setting to override the xbox one controller, just turn that off and it will work mostly like it is supposed to.
You can get to the setting by pressing the Delete key (in game), and then pressing the side arrows at the top of the menu screen until you see it, it's about the fifth menu across.

Sorry if I sound salty, but why do you want to use a controller if you have a mouse and keyboard?

Because it's hard to see the mouse and keyboard in virtual reality!
