Apotocarys Satchel
I make tons of potions, just fast traveling between chem shops and buying the whole inventory of ingredients. They don't weigh that much (individually), but now that I have hundreds upon hundreds of ingredients, that weight has added up.

So, Idea for a new mod.
Ingredients in an Apothecarys Satchel will be considered TEMPORARILY "in" the inventory of player while they use THAT PARTICULAR Alchemy Lab.

Then, I'd be able to stow all my alchemical supplys in Breezholm, and still keep them in a usable stack. (Edit: because picking them up from a chest, and dropping them back into it is a huge pain for hundreds of items)

I hope this mod exists already, and some generous Steamer will direct me to it from here.
If not... this million dollar idea is all yours, talented modders of Steam Community!

Edit 1: for clarity, added some emphasis, and explanation

This isnt quite what youre looking for but this can help a lot with the weight thing.
Functional Bags http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50589/?

And as far as actually having something in a sachel that you can then use on a table, Breezehome Fully Upgradeable has a system like that for not only alchemy but also for enchanting but it only works for the tables actually added by the breezehome mod.

You could just use a "modular" approach and zap all the weights of every potion in the game to ZERO. Seems like that would solve the dilemma of having too much weight devoted to potions. Yeah, they'd still be in your character's inventory all the time, but what's one lore-depriving mod vs another, right? Strip away the weight in seconds!!

Good suggestion, but it feels a bit too cheaty to this Skyrimmer. Not that I'm ruling it out either.

Hehe, but you want a magical sack filled with all your goodies that you can leave at home...but have everything you've collected in it, with you on your adventures...but don't want to cheat. Oooo-kay. I'm going to have to think on that one a little while.... :-)

It's not a magic sack, just the ability to access ingredients without putting them in my pockets. Like a cabinet beside a table. Maybe what I really need to look for is an inventory managment mod. Dropping and picking up all ingredients at once would be good enough I suppose.

I saw a storage mod some place which gave immediate access, to whatever you'd thrown in it, any time, any place, except during combat. If I stumble across it again, while looking at some of the absurd mods I see, I'll let you know and post a link to it.

It's not a cheat, it's a satchel on your alchemy table. Sounds sensible to me. You shouldn't have to take an item out of the satchel to put into your pocket just so you can use it. As long as the satchel isn't "linked" to all the other alchemy tables, I see nothing cheaty about it at all.

Weightless/volume-less ingredients? Now that's cheaty.
EbonHawk Oct 21, 2014 @ 4:33pm
Oh. I read that as a satchel accessible anywhere. My bad; didn't think about it being a sack at or near a single alchemy table. I apologize.

Ok, that seems very familiar to me, but I think the one I am remembering still required you to remove everything from it first. Yeah, that is kinda silly. I wonder if that's even possible.. linking a container with the player's inventory.

The only one I can think of had chests and apothecary satchels near or on the tables. It was the Dovahkiin's Hideout, I think, but I am fairly certain they didn't grant access to them from the player's inventory.

That would be a handy thing. I just empty the entire satchel into my inventory when I experiment with my ingredients, and then stuff them all back in when I'm finished, except for what I need to make healing potions while adventuring.

if you look up the levelers tower, it has a room where you click a button and it sorts all your ingredients in labeled jars for you, and you can sneak right click to have it transfer to your inventory.

Personally, I don't care if I 20 tons of ingredients in my pockets while I stand at a table. Just like I don't care if its bright and sunny out when I am a Vampire Lord as I step out of a shop. But getting rid of items (putting them back in the sack) is another thing, so getting every item over 6 is a plus to me, less key strokes. A mod that has a different keystroke, the opposite of R, take all items, would be great. Drop all ingrediants back into the satchel, take the few back that you want, like Salt, Lavender, Garlic, would be great. Its not a game breaker, or even a cheat.

Have a look at Harveys excellent 'General stores' http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18340/? aka death to tedious inventory management.

It's coolest feature is 'Heuristic Learning Containers':

No matter what mix of mods you chose, General Stores can adapt. All storage (except soulgems) is configured to learn new items as you store them
Roscaria Oct 22, 2014 @ 1:21am
Instantly move any items from your pack into any container. Easily Move, Rename, or Unlock any container... even from other mods! Stow your gear from across the world, or open a chest in your Skyrim home from anywhere else. You can even craft your own containers to add permanent new storage to any location.

Arod's Storage Solutions will forever improve your Skyrim experience. It works on any chest, barrel, pouch, sack or other container, and with any item you can put in your backpack, even if they came from third party mods. Supports Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire DLCs as well.

Works with 100% pure vanilla Skyrim. SKSE or other third-party enhancement software is NOT required.

Available in the Workshop or on Nexus as Arods Better Containers 1.40
