Skyrim crashes with high resolution texture pack
Ever since I installed the official High resolution texture pack DLC the game keeps crashing. It might happen just after the game loads or after 1-5 minutes. I am not using any mods. If I remove that DLC the game works normally again. It can't be a RAM problem because I have 32GB DDR3. Any ideas why it could be happening?

Load-order should be w/no mods: Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfires.esm, Dragonborn.esm and then the Hi Res Texture Pack 1, 2 and then 3.......look in Data File = 2 down from play. hope this helps.

I don't have any of the DLC (Dawnguard, Hearthfire or Dragonborn) so it's just the Texture pack. The order is correct (I haven't manually changed anything too).

Load-order is EXTREMLY important to Skyrim, don't ever forget get that-you have been warned. Download this 3rd party program = it is safe... google- loot github you want version 0.6.0 , this will sort your mods/once you start modding your game of AWESOME Skyrim.

You mean I need to buy all the DLC to use it? The Hi Res pack was released on Feb 2012 and all the other official DLC were released after June 2012. This doesn't make any sense...

The full game is just Skryim, not DLC, try getting the unofficial high resolution patch from the nexus.

Thanks for the help but if it's bugged why hasn't Bethesda made any patches for it? It has been out for more than 2 years.

Probably just didn't happen to enough people, plus the high res pack doesn't have that much of an effect so they probably just thought that people could just stop using it. I for one haven't has this bug but I have experienced a fair few others but tbh you can't expect a game development team to fix every last bug but that;s just my opinion.

Just install the unofficial oatch for it, pinned at top of forum page. This may help sort your prob., follows after no. 3 texture pack in load order.
Also include unofficial skyrim patch and this follows after skyrim update.

Well there are over 1000 pages if you search about that in the forums here. Most people suggest that the problem could be mods, ram, drivers, gpu etc. None of them is the problem (i am using gtx 780ti with latest drivers). Most common solution was to lower the graphics to medium (that's not even a solution). 1000 pages is a lot of problems. Maybe Bethesda should remove the DLC if it doesn't work. I am sure there are a lot of graphics mods that are better.
