Trying out Mod Organiser. Can't install?
So finally getting around to installing mods on my day off, I have SKSE and SkyUI installed. I go to install the Mod Organizer file and...

Error opening file for writing:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mod Organiser\Mod Organiser.exe

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to again, or
Ignore to skip this file.

Any ideas?

Download it again is all I can say, something might have screwed up in the download.

there are several to pick. which one? >_> i think i picked the 14 installer, trying just the 14.
i assume the 14 is more recent then the 11?

Okay I just extracted the file, no issues yet.

Just grab the newest file, which should be the 2_14 one, even if you grab earlier ones it wont matter because it will just prompt you for an update when you open it.
If you cant get the installer working, just grab the other version which should just be loose files, that worked fine for me.

I got it working, thanks. :)

I know this is an old post, but just for future reference, when you selected what files everything would be put into, did you have it set as C:\Program Files (x86)\Mod Organizer? Because you have to select a file that actually exists. Ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

The preferred location for Mod Organizer is the game folder. It then automatically detects the game, if it is supporting it.

If you place instance of MO to ...\SteamApps\common\Skyrim, then it will detect all content from your Skyrim\Data folder and present itself as Skyrim Mod Organizer.

If you place instance of MO to ...\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas, then it will detect all content from your Fallout New Vegas\Data folder and present itself as Fallout New Vegas Mod Organizer.

You can have several instances of MO in your system at once, all in separate game folders. Example above was from my own computer.

Edit: Few typos. I blame summer.

for those who haven't found a fix.-
put the installer on your desktop, right click it, then run as administrator.

Down Mod organizer, use installer(MO) or unzip and place in C:. Where Skyrim is situated.
Mine is C: Drive\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim. It will place MO folder there and must be there unless skyrim is set up in another drive or folder.
