Mission Icons
Is there a mod or something for putting those ! and ? over people's heads? I keep getting really lost. This game seriously needs a better mapping system. Either that or I'm an idiot.

Sorry, I'm sure it's a great game, great story, and all, but I'm just not used to this Wide Open Sandbox "No real goals except what you make" style gameplay.

There are no icons that I'm aware of that let you know someone has a quest to give you, but there are icons you can turn on and off that will direct you to your guest goals, and they will float over a person's head if your goal is a person.

They are managed from your journal page. You can select which quest icons you want active (shown on the map and in your navigation bar) by clicking on them. Miscellaneous quest need to be selected within the menu to be seen, and the Miscellaneous header needs to be activated as well. Little elaborate arrows show you which quests you can see on the map.

If you have a quest turned on but can't find it, highlight the quest name with your mouse and click "m" and the map should shift to the area where the quest icon is.

Hit escape, select guests. Any active quests can be checked, (run mouse over it, and click, becomes active and teackable), and a arrow appears on your map compass to show general direction to head and if you are getting really close. Also if you click M for map, it will show your location and the general location of the quest. Note: It is advisable to have only one quest active, as more than one arrow will show up on the map compass. This is even more serious if you are in a house or dungeon. One arrow will lead you in possibly mutiple levels to finish a quest, while the other arrow leads you out to finish another quest far away.

Like wowszer said, I think you just need to activate some quests in your objectives screen. I just turn every single one of them on and head for the closest one.

You might also enjoy the mod that fixes some of the quests to be more descriptive. A real pain-saver those are.

Grab both of these:

There's also a basic Skyrim manual. In your Library to the far right of Play Skyrim is a link to it.

Who reads the freakin' manuals anymore? ;-)

most manuals these days are little more then a installation guide anyway.

Back in the olden days of yore you sometimes got a several hundred page book as manual.

Oh, I looked forward to getting some of those manuals and would spend hours reading them. They were works of art, had relevance to the actual gameplay, and they were chock full of useful information. I miss those days. Kids these days don't have a clue.
