How to do Power Attack with Magic?
I know you can do a power attack, by holding down the M1 or M2 button. This works when I have swords or other weapons. Can you not do a power attack with destruction magic, such as flames or sparks? I have flames to M1 and sparks to M2, and hold them down, but it's just a constant stream of fire and sparks, no "power" attack. Can you not do a power attack with destructive magic?

You need 2 off the same spells to make the "Power attack" work.
Like Fire+Fire= Power attack
Fire+Sparks= Not a power attack

If you're gonna play a mage, may as well get your enchanting up to 100, then enchant 4 pieces of gear -25% on each 4 gives you unlimited mana. Sounds like a cheat but it's not.

And what exactly has that to do with his question? Oo

@Topic: No, there is no "power attack" with magic, however, the usage of magic changes when you aquire new spells. Many need to be charged for a few moments, which is a bit like a "forced" power attack.

Well typically I play a knuckle dragging Nord (Beavis Skanky-Pelt) he fits in real well with the companions Farkas and Vilkas he could be a long lost triplet lol

Swords have edges, spells do not. Maces are knobby, spells are not. Weapons have power attacks, spells do not. That's just the way it is. Swords have edges, spells do not, no use whining about the lack of edges on spells. Melee is not magic and magic is not melee. Btw, bows don't have power attacks either.

You CAN summon a bound weapon however! Then you can use power attacks with your bound weapon. But power attacks with non-melee things just doesn't make sense.

To clarify; this only works if you have the Dual Casting perk for that magical school - in his examples, Destruction. Without the perk, casting Flames from each hand at the same time just does double the effect and with double the magicka drain (you are literally just casting the same spell twice at the same time).

With the perk, you do more damage and have a raised magicka cost. That actually makes it less effective for Destruction since you're getting (according to UESP) 10% more damage for 40% more magicka, hence the recommendation earlier about getting enchantments to reduce the cost of a school of magic. Destruction dual-casting really comes into its own once you get the Impact perk in its tree; anyone hit by a dual-cast spell gets staggered.

Thanks guys. Just geting into this game. There is ton to do, simply so many options. What is your favorite loadout? One-handed attack weapon with shield? Two handed weapon? Or one handed weapon and magic?

Illusion to make the foe eliminate themselves. Then Conjuration for a zombie to finish off the last guy standing. That way your blade is always clean.
