Nords are Warriors, not users of magic

...yeah, i understand that it makes sense from a lore perspectice, im just looking for a mod that disables it because its the only thing everyone says now.

I don't know about disabling it outright, but I know a mod exists that reduces the distance you have to be from NPC to trigger their passive dialogue, so you won't get spammed as much.

Since the guards don't really serve much of a function in my game, I'd like to see more unique occurrences dependent on their statements. We've got the mod that zaps any guard who mentions arrows in the knee, and the one that turns them into a sweetroll if they mention one of them getting stolen, but I'd like to see more.

"My cousin gets to fight dragons. What do I get? Guard duty."
"What is it? Dragons?"
"Watch the skies, traveler."
Spawns a dragon attack immediately.

"Gotta keep my eyes open. Damn dragons could swoop down at any time."
Ditto.

"They say Helgen got hit by a dragon. One of those horrors comes here, we'll be ready."
Too easy: dragon.

"Fear not. Come dragon or giant, we'll be ready."
Dragon or giant, or both, attack immediately.

"Been too long since we've had a good bandit raid."
Spawns a bandit raid immediately.

"I fear the night. Because the werewolves and vampires don't."
Werewolves and vampires attack.

"I would be a lot happier with a bellyful of mead right about now."
Spawns a ton of mead bottles to bury him under a pile of them.

"Trouble?"
Troll attacks.

"They say Ulfric Stormcloak murdered the High King... with his voice! Shouted him apart!"
A Fus-Ro-Dah from the heavens blasts him apart.

"Could sure use a warm bed right about now..."
Bed falls out of the sky and crushes him or her.

"That spell looks DANGEROUS! KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!!!"
Whatever spell you have equipped rips out of the surrounding air and blasts him or her to smithereens.

Ok, so a lot of them would involve dragons. But, hey, better than standing around listening to the bellyachers moaning and whining about the same things over and over.

They say something similar whenever I pull out my bow enchanted with fire damage... its not ACTUALLY on FIRE its just an ENCHANTMENT you idiots!

"You're not supposed to play with fire you know!" Yes kid, I know, its not on fire, ok?

I don't know of any mods that do this, and I wouldn't want to try to undertake doing all of them, but if you feel up to experimenting, download creation kit and use this tutorial to get yourself set up with a usable .esp file. http://www.creationkit.com/Category:Getting_Started

Then scroll down the object window, (left) click "all," and then type the name of your preferred spell in the search box as one word. (ie: flamethrall) You'll see the spell, with an "S" icon, and two or three different magical effects, with a black tophat shaped icon. Double click each effect and look for a keyword that says something like WIspelldangerous (may not be exact) and delete. This should stop them from seeing your spell as a threat. You'll need to do that for each effect, for your preferred spell. (ie: flame thrall, potent flame thrall, etc.) Then save as shown in the tutorial and give it a play.

Always make a manual game save first, just in case.

That's insane! I love it. :-)

I either use this or a different mod myself. It's only the Dead Thrall spell that really bugged me.

This didn't bother me so much until now as I didn't cast much around guards except when dragon fighting. I have a mod that let's you cast a long lasting spell (longer with associated perk) on your weapon to do elemental damage. Well now I hear "Watch that fire!" or some such w/o active casting. :-/ This to point I'm missing "arrow to the knee" and "sweetroll.."

Hmm, maybe you should only have a spell or weapon readied when you need to have it readied.

If you saw a NPC walking around town with his hands raised up with a spell readied or holding up a sword you might wonder what's up.

What one "should" do and what annoys people in game design is two seperate things. But that is what mods are for if something can be fixed.

That said, besides dragon fights where the guards may fight alongside you, Feather is a spell you may cast most times you fast travel (and then the situation I described above) I understand why they say it but also know any repetitive dialog can get annoying. My tolerance for it is rather high because I learned to tuneout noise a long time ago, but not all people are wired that way.

im sure i could tolerate it too, its just annoying its the ONLY thing people say to you if you like using spells... and i recently found an awesome spell mod that adds hundreds of new, incredibly unique spells to the game. I love my summoned Daedroth ^^

and thanks bomb bloke, that might be exactly what im looking for! ill give it a shot ^^
