Civil War Overhaul Mod -- bug or conflict?

I'm loving Skyrim more than ever with implementing some suggested mods (and some I found on my own). This includes CWO and I'm having a hard time imagining Skyrim without it already.

But either there is a bug with the mod or a conflict with an existing mod and I had to force win a hold -- through the MCM -- and I think that caused a big loss of life on my side. Also Ulfric Stormcloak bugged out and said we won the war (or something to that effect).

I did what the error message said above and reloaded from my last quest. That at least fixed Ulfric but during the battle I got the same message.

Aside from wanting this to work I am concerned about the stability of the game. This is actually one of, if not solely, my best playthroughs I'm LV 20-something and planned to play a complete game with the cap removed. (I don't have the DLC yet). I had never got into the crafting side until now so it would be a bummer for the game to wonk out in 10-20 more levels.

Anyway, these are my mods and I wonder if anyone notices an issue. I didn't clean the one mod with TESV and it has run fine until this point. The exception is that my companion doesn't always show up the rare time I fast travel -- this hasn't happened before (I've used him 3X). So far if I travel again I get him back.


ALSO for some reason -- Superior Lore Friendly Hair is not recognized by LOOT. I get a security warning when I select it in NMM?? but I know it's working as the hair is much improved. I don't know if I should disable it though.


Any feedback on my Load Order or CWO or whatnot would be greatly appreciated. (Note that I have 2 Mods deactivated in NMM -- Better Vampires and Alternitive Start, if that matters. I also have SkyRe Lighting disabled because it was too dark but LOOT picks it up anyway.

P.S. Is it normal that you must become Thane to progress the Civil War?

I only played Strormcloaks once some time ago, but didn't remember that, and that is where I am in the game and must help the 5/5 people. I've usually neglected Windhelm in most my playthroughs because I'm on the Impire's side and the murder mystery is not my favorite one as it can bug out.

P.S.S -- After winning Whiterun CWO said our hold was Falkreath before I even started the mission. Whiterun played like vanilla as well. Falkreath (where the error occurred) had the giants and such and was rather challenging while it lasted.

Superior Lore Friendly hair has only textures, not ESP or ESM files to be handled in load order. LOOT will not recognize it, because there is nothing to get recognized. There is no problem.

LOOT - or any other tool - will not sort out basic targeted texture mods, because they do not use Bethesda plugins. If you face a conflict, just move the one that you wish to overwrite others below them in load order. Then you are good to go.

I don't know what caused your bug. I am playing with SkyRe and CWO. I have never encountered this.

I am unsure if I already asked you before, so forgive me if I did. Are you using the support patch for Unofficial Skyrim Patch and SkyRe? It might be (just guessing) that something in SkyRe modules and USKP are making an mess of CWO without it.

Patch is called Unofficial Skyrim Redone Patch and is available from same download page with ReProccer patches.

I am using same mods with you, except Interesting NPCs and the Dance of Death. I have enough extra NPCs running around from other mods. I also favor VioLens ove The Dance of Death, because it handles ranged killmoves properly.

This helps much. I don't think I installed those patches and will check them out. It's good to know someone else other than the person who mentioned the mods is running them OK. I am going to check the VioLens too. If you recommend compatible mods for enemies please let me know if you have the time.

I've seen some mentioned that were suppose to be good but I don't know if they work with this mod.

Otherwise it looks broke....If I force win up to Solitude I finally get orders but I don't think it's broke the game otherwise. I'm going to do a clean reinstall after this game too.

When you got the error, was the civil war quest completed? I believe that the author mentions that the mod shouldn't be activated until after the war is over (Ulfric dead, or General Tullius dead).

The error happens early. That's the main problem as I got a taste of what the mod offers but not much. The first fort after Whiterun (Falkreath's Hold) is when it happens, in the middle of that battle. And when it happened it said the attacker's pool was 100 and mine was 13 -- which I think was a result of the bug as a lot of their men where killed before they literally disappeared.

Following that, I was able to use my disguise and attack some camps (even got Capt Aldis to attack me and killed him) and such but no quest/war progression otherwise unless I forced it, which I had to do in the right order leading up to Solitude if I want to finish the war.Luckily I knew the order from previous plays but I guess it's online too.

Also, I didn't get the normal quests like freeing the prisoners -- I am guessing that is by design since the battle is quite different, but I'm not certain.

I prefer playing Empire but wanted more challenge and it looked like the Stormcloaks start out behind.

On a side note: I swear 90% of the game bugs I have are associated with Windhelp in some way, particularly Ulfric or the murder case.

"Off Topic " @ llja I see your mention dance of death mod, I tried to get that,everywhere, couldnt find it after watching a video review, but from what i could gather, the mod is dead ? the authors either not working on it anymore, or I dont know, But the new dance of death is now violens which I use and is just as good imo, just saying,

Now I remember. I am not using that patch because the version I am using is not suppose to be used with ReProcccer. I don't know what ReProccer is but apparently since I don't have the DLC the lastest version for me is designed not to use it.

So I guess other than a fresh reinstall now I'm stuck on what to do other than give it up.

I'll get the DLCs when they go on sale and see how things go. I never saw a reason to get them until lately. It seems some of the mods are better developed with updates if you have such.

I think you just answered your own question... You activated the mod before the civil war was over, and possibly screwed up your game.

I'm sorry but you're not making any sense to me. The mod was loaded on a new save...how did I activate it and "screw up" my game? I didn't even use the Debug menu until the error happened. An error that not only affected the battle but caused Ulfric to glitch out. The rest of my game is fine.

P.S. I see now from your other post you do not know this mod. There is no point in using it after Ulfric is dead. LOL

If I understand you, you couldn't find Dance of Death. Here is what I have

Quick Question:

Are Riverwood guards suppose to attack you after you win Whiterun for the Stormcloaks -- and are they suppose to be in Whiterun uniform? Even if I kill them they respawn, and I have to go the back way or get slaughtered -- or I suppose I could kite them, but haven't tried. It's just a convienent place to sell dragon bones, such I care other than for nerdy reasons.

I couldn't remember but I didn't think so. I wondered if CWO intended this or maybe this is another bug or where things began to break down. Thanks :)
