So how many of you have actually finished Skyrim?
It's almost like a meme on the internet: "one does not simply finish skyrim"

But I haven no idea why so many people believe it.

Excluding quest-based mods (which I am not going to download), the vanilla game + expansions are finite, not infinite.

Yes, there are Radiant AI quests that are infinite, but after you have done all their permutations you know it's just a repetition in a different location, so you ignore them.

What I am saying, is that visiting every location and doing every non-repetivie quest means you have FINISHED Skyrim.

And I am pretty darn close to it. Just parts of Solstheim left.

How about you guys?

you can compare achievements somewhere in steam. You can see what % of people has completed certain main quest stages.

Actually since you can contnue to play the game as long as you want to. There is no end..It is infact infinite. If you choose to call some point the end..Thats you. But you could still contiune to play. Its not like an ending video scrolls on the screen and the game quits and you have to start a new game.

Umm, which time?

of course I know that. Lots of games have "free roam" modes after the main story. But I still don't think that qualifies them as games without ends.

For me, games without ends are arcade games like tetris...games with no story but just "hop-in" fun.

Depends on what you mean by "completing" the game. I never do a full playthrough, I theme my charakter and only do the questlines and activities that make sense for him. By that definition I've played through the game quite often, my char has achieved his/her goals and his/her story reached its end. If you mean "doing all the quests that are available"/"getting all the achievements", then no - but that was never my goal to begin with.

The only TES game I finished was Morrowind - since then I haven't liked the main quest and I just explore and complete side quests. Damn good job they do where I stil love them without it!

^ This

For me, it would be ridiculous to be, at the same time, Grandmaster Thief, Arch-Mage of Winterhold, Chief of the Dark Brotherhood, Harbinger of the Companions, thane of every single hold, dragonborn "lord and savior", etc, etc. Seems like you're only missing being jarl and emperor.

I tried that, maybe like everyone else, with my first character---if only to experiment in that huge world. Very soon I noticed playing like that seemed like an incongruous mistake story-wise. It also kills all RPG elements, if you care about that.

On the other hand, if you are on the OCD side, that would be a matter of personal taste (or urge).

I have yet to play the expansion packs(i own them but after 320 hours i had enough of skyrim for a while) so i did not finish the game.

As far as your definition of finishing the game goes. i haven't finished it.
I haven't found all dragon priest masks and the dungeon where you have to use em, i'm pretty sure i miss a couple daedra quests and most certainly haven't discovered ALL locations. every playtrough i find new quests (ie the animal spirits , found that in my 5th game).
I always do all quests of all factions and ofc the main story last (to the point of the dragons appearing or you won't get all the good stuff out of the dungeons or other quests).

My next game i'll make an efford to explore everything (loving the enb series and other graphical mods) and the expansions ofc.

4789 hours and i ain't done yet.......that's my story and i'm stickin' to it.

I have not completed all achievements, because frankly some of them are silly. Like the "master criminal" achievement which requires you to be so inept you get a huge bounty in every hold.

But other than that I do believe I have "finished" Skryim by completing every quest (on differen characters, of course) and finding every location of note. I'm sure there are some locations I have still not found, because every playthrough I find something new. But the only thing I am currently aware I have not completed is the Ebony Knight, just because I hate grinding and have no interest in grinding out extra levels just to meet one guy. (I also don't like making skill legendary, it just feels like cheating).

yes. very much OCD :D

my general mantra is to avoid fast travel at all costs (unless my companion is stuck) and use carriages instead.

also follow any unexplored icon on your compass

I finished it but I haven't completed it yet, but I'm slowly working towards it, at least as well as I can.
RosarioLuigi Sep 29, 2014 @ 7:41pm
Finished everything but the Dawnguard quests and since I don't like them, I consider myself "done" with Skyrim. Time for another Morrowind playthrough. ;)

That, along with Vampire lord were some of my last achievments as well. I did those with my evil Dovahkitty. Rampage through city as Vampire lord, escape, move on to next city, escape, rinse, and repeat. Dead is dead, she died in Solitude I think, had unlocked the achievements by then. I was laughing the whole time because she was just pure silliness. I wouldn't have called her inept, as she did manage to escape 8 of the 9 holds with half the guards running after her vampireladyness, leaving a fabulous trail of destruction. Lord Harkon would've been pleased, oh wait, she done killed him too...

A few of my builds finished the main quest. My first, a bosmer archer, my Son of Skyrim, my old orc, and maybe my assassin Dunmer. The rest only did set quests that fit with their builds. Like my son of skyrim would never have touched the DB or the TG, likewise, my Dunmer had no need for the Companions. My bosmer didn't do much either, just mostly Daedric quests, Civil War, Mages, 99% of Dragonborn (it glitched right on the last quest), and the mainquest.

I tend to do a lot of wandering about aimlessly.
