GAY CHARACTER IN SKYRIM
just an observation here ......... did anyone ever notice that balimund, the rifken blacksmith, is gay? i am a man wearing the amulet of mara and going around talking to all the woman so that i can get married. when i went to balimund to sell my armor, he told me he was interested. although i have nothing against homosexuals, i found it rather amusing that there would be one in the game. has anyone else experienced this? are there any other gay characters in skyrim? i have never played a woman in the game. are there any lesbians? could this be simply a glitch that i stepped into?

if anyone finds any of my comments or observations offensive, sorry in advance. none of this was meant to be that.

i plan on marrying majoll the lioness this time around. she looks like she could beat me up!

just in case anyone is interested, balimund (riften blacksmith), octieve san (solitude winking skeever), gregor (heljarchen hall housecarl), cosnach (markarth silver blood inn), onmund (college of winterhold), brelyna maryon (college of winterhold), romlyn dreth (riften bee & bard), wilhelm (ivarstead vilemyr inn), filnjar shor's stone, and vladimar (i forgot where i ran into him) are all guys who will marry you if you are a male character.

i still think that the programmers could have put in a sex check while programming this section of the game. i think that they were making a social statement.

no problem with me! i wonder why most of the bandits are woman and if they were willing to marry me too.

did anyone ever try marrying the same sex in the game? does the minister care? does the children you adapt care? do you run across anyone in the game who cares?

thanks all.

Something so simple doesn't always have to be a social statement. Putting in a sex check requires additional programming and could potentially alienate customers, so why bother?

In my experience the bandits are about 50/50 men and woman and I'm sure there's a mod floating around that makes a few of them marriable.

If you're in a same sex marriage in the game no one cares. The children will simply say the same lines as if you were a female character married to a male when they speak of your spouse. On my gay redguard character I do not recall ever running across an npc who commented on it.

who needs a bed..........look at all that woods!
I was playing a male character and Lucius (Riverwood Trader) gives me a gift and says it's a token of affection. It was early in the game and I was not waering an amulet of Mara. So I don't know what was going on there.

Any character that you have a high enough relationship rank with (of which fufilling any NPCs quest line will usually set it to high enough) will be eligable for marriage, regardless of the race or sex of your character. Its definitely a face, not a theory, its in the code :)
Have you been to the Cloud District lately? Oh, what am I saying?

You gain extra favor for people by completing their requests, every so often they toss you little gifts. Nothing gay about it

But does it actually mattter? I certainly don't find it offensive but in a more libral and tollerant society that many of us live in, does a person's sexuality actually matter all that much? With thread subjects like this it means that people of certain tastes will still feel the need to tell others what their personal tastes are when, in actual fact, it doesn't matter. Personal preference should be exactly that, personal.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the people need to hide their sexuality, I am saying that choosing to love one of the same or opposite gender matters to me about as much as whether someone likes peanut butter (chaurus or otherwise). Yes, they may enjoy something I don't but it doesn't actually matter nor is it really that interesting. I think it would be more interesting if I found out that Ballimund was a fan of Trance or Drum and bass, all things considered. :oD
No, it doesn't matter, not one bit. Not to me anyway.
The only canonically gay characters in Skyrim are Bjornolfr and Hrodulf, on Solsthiem. They both get killed by Reavers, though, so that's a thing.

Other than that, yeah, it's been covered. I don't think that it's accurate to say that everyone in Skyrim is bisexual, but, rather, that the player gets to basically choose who they think follows what sexual orientation.
Bethesda handled it elegantly, the possibility is there for those who want it, and you easily can avoid uncomfortable situations if you don't, merely by not wearing the amulet. To each his own but I don't like it too much in other RPG's when playing a male and I can't avoid geting hit by a man.
Marimal the prest in Riften says life in Skyrim is hard, so take care about all love.
I have played one game as Redguard female and married Serana. Ohh :)

Neither do I like being hit on by women as a man but here we are.

Haha... great time capsule though. Made me cringe physically when I read that and realized that "Oh no, I was like that back then, wasn't I?"
