Become a Bard Glitch
I've been using the Become a Bard Mod without any problems other than the occassional instance where the mod forgets who the Innkeeper is, but now I've run into a new glitch.

The problem is occurring in a high level character game and it has suddenly begun to tell me I don't have the right instrument, no matter what instrument I choose or what song I try to play. I normally play the Lute and I have my same old trusty Wanderer's Lute I've had from the beginning of the game. I'm well into the advanced stages of the Bards questline. (Don't want to spoil it for anybody by giving details.)

Has anyone run into this problem before?

My lower level character games are working just fine. I'm only having the problem with this Legendary Character, Level 156.

So you have several characters your playing at the same time?
With the same Mods?
Could it be that with that high a character some corruption has crept into his saves?

I have wanted to try the Become a Bard Mod... thanks for the reminder.

(Her) Could be, but normally if there is corruption, you cannot auto load and I can still do that.

Sorry ....for Her ... slipped up there
So which Bard mod is it that your using?
Become a Bard Anduniel Songbook Expansion - Nexus Mods
www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48836

Or is it "Become a bard" http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31680 I looked at a video of this one and it comes up as File not found ...so possibly your mod has been deleted or withdrawn?
Have you checked the mod and it's posts?

Check it out: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=200602183&searchtext=become+a+bard

The author was banned from the Nexus. She does have another site where you can download. You can read about it at the above site.

If the mod were taken down, my other characters would not work.

You are probably right, something has become corrupted. It has happened before on high level characters. It's a pity you cannot do everything with one character. I guess the game file gets so big it just can't save correctly. There are still quests I've never done. Incredible game.

Some of the save games can get quite large. It might be worth a shot checking into the SSME mod at The Nexus. I'm sure it can be found at other places too.

The thing is, it says it's not necessary if you're running SKSE after a certain version because it's already included, but until I installed SSME my game was crashing every single time, without fail. Now, it only crashes every couple of hours or so... :-P Still, it's an improvement. I just have to remember to save more often because I never know when it will—*scchhkkk!*

You could also try (if you haven't already) sorting everything with LOOT, and running a save game cleaner (also at Nexus and around) to see if you can "clean-up" your high-level character save. Can't hurt, as long as you keep backups.

Rider I agree ... Love the game! My current character is only level 74 but has hardly done any main quests as there are so many others I want to focus on.
Becoming a bard would fit well into playing in the Luxury suite as well ..... :spirallove:

I guess it's true though with the amount of modding in Skyrim it's surprising it doesn't crash a lot more! We just need to use as many tools as possible to keep it going strong :snowglobe:

I will definitely try the programs you've suggested, Eternie. I run a lot of mods and some I make myself. All of my followers are self made. Well, nearly all. I use BOSS for my load order. I don't usually have a CTD problem unless I am doing the first boot up. I have what I call a magic save, which is an early save that is small. I load that first and then go on to launch the save I want to play. Works every time.

I get the concept of a save game cleaner--but what is LOOT?

LOOT is the new Boss-Boss is old

But it appears a lot of people have troubles with Loot doing the wrong load order!

I'm using which ever one works. I also at times have Loot putting my bash patch in the middle of the load order for no apparent reason. It's like it works every other time but no idea why that would be.

There's a reason for that and Ilja explained it recently why that works, but darned if I can remember the thread it was in... :-(
