College of winterhold a massive dispointment?
Anyone else think thw whole college of winterhold questline is a bit of a dispointment?

It seemed liek there was so much potential that it wasted, I mean when it first started with the outing I was thinking "okay cool, so I am an actual student, this is gonna be liek harry potter!" then it brought in the whole mystic stone and order storyline and things where looking to be REALLY interesting.

And then just totally wasted it all. Mainly fetch quests with the most interesting part being the bone dragon and boss battle with the dragon priest.

No seeing the orders home, no actual classes in magic harry potter style, no explenation of what the sphere was.... Just overall it had such a great start and totally flopped. Hell, they brought in a guy who was made out of pure mana for one conversation then threw him away.

Yes, lots of opportunities missing there, but that questline is far from boring. It's better and more epic than say, the Companions' or some others. It also gives you access to the most prestigious title a char can get in Skyrim (no, king of thieves or master of murderers are not prestigious, nor is a lowly thane).

You also get the very cool magic garden and the arch-mage quarters.

Somewhat missing, yes. Disappointment, maybe. "Massive", definitely not.

I personally found it a bit bland my first time through it as well. I really liked the quest but the actual college was a bit plain.
If youre into mods check out Immersive College of WInterhold. The mages do training, students attend classes that if you attend you can actually get experiance from and it adds in some really neat classrooms and a lot more.

Oblivion had the best guild quests imo.
You were so proud when you finally entered Mage's guild.
You were so proud when you worked for the poors in the Thief's Guild.
You were so proud to fight for the Fighter's guild in every region.
The Brotherhood was so mysterious.

In Skyrim, except the Companions the guilds are quite underwhelming. And even then, the Companions feel more like an awesome quest than a real guild.
(I still love Skyrim. But I love Oblivion too.)

Winterhold just struck me as ' lolz we blew the place up, go try the Companions'
Im not a big magic user but what I saw from my time in there didnt impress me

I think the whole guild system could use some work. Rather than just like a set of side quests I think they should be much longer. I think less side quests in favor of bigger guilds would be best. Oblivion had a bit more padding in their guild quests which made them seem longer, and mix that with Skyrim's Radient system it could lead to some very good quests. I always wanted the mage's guild to be like Harry Potter, but I understand that isnt always in the style choice of the games.

Graphics are better on Skyrim but overall gameplay way way better on Oblivion

its obvious they cut that questline short.

The same could be said about just about every part of the game.

Hmm well I don't think the main questline outstayed its welcome, the dark brotherhood came to a satisfying end and the theives guild had a pretty awesome conclusion.

Dunno bout the war though, have never gotten round to completeing it.

Does anyone had a bug where in this quest dragon priest did not attack you? I was very dissapointed that enemy were so easy and final boss could not even attack me for some reason =(

Am pretty sure that there's a mod that fixes up the College of Winterhold.

Also, there are missing quests within that place that never got finished and there are mods that bring them back.

There are about two mods that I know that (somewhat) fixs them up, they are:

Improved College of Winterhold

and

Immersive College of Winterhold

They could have done a better job. Same with the Bard college. Maybe TESVI will be different.
