the main story is too short
during the free weekend i deceided to play the game (i wont be buying it because mods cost money and are getting removed from nexus) and i completed the main story in 3 days. I know there are side quests but the main story was underwelming the only cool parts are when you have the elder scroll and when you fight alduin.

there are not ''main story's'' in skyrim there are only ''main quests'' there are plenty more main quests in the game that would exceed the game time side quests arent even a majour thing its just bonus to a already extensive game and with or without mods its a vast game.

There is a main quest line. The one you start from Helgen..the one that explains why you're dragonborn etc., That is the main, primary, story-driven quest line in the game. You can complete it in about 2-3 hours. It's super short...the DLC is also rather short.

You could always do every single side quest if you are a completionist. Gives you a good 30-50 hours of gameplay or more.

You can finish it really fast. But there's no hurry, so I find it more fun to take my time. Explore the countryside, help villagers, build a family, decapitate bandits, etc.

basically you need to mod it once you get bored of it. thats how we roll skyrim.

yes i know that but my point is that is not the only ''main quest line'' the game is supposed to be played with the inclin that each person has their own path and has to go through the worlds disruption then continue with their path meaning its supposed to be short because that one questline does not define your character in the game the other quests do

but the main quest are very liner like the quest it tell you to kill the dragon that is the leader of the greybeards and bethesda forgot that maybe some of us dont want to kill him

The main story was ok. It didn't try to set a standard or anything. It was just ok. Which is sad. When I saw the trailers and such. Them talking about this world eater. I imagined this huge dragon that y'know... could typically eat a world. But nope. Just looks like every other dragon except it's a dark grey/black dragon.

Except you don't have to kill that dragon and you can complete the main quest without doing it, so no.........its not

There is only one path to beat the main quest. Sure you the player gets to decide when to finish that quest, but lets not pretend that the main storyline isn't a generic linear RPG story. People downloads mods to entertain themselves in various other ways, tahst why vanilla Skyrim is kind of ehh. Great when it came out in '11 but it def shows its age.

What about the "civil war" where mostly nothing happens and the actual quests are pretty lame for a "civil war".

if you read what i said properly and i quote myself ''the GAME is supposed to be played with the inclin that each person has their own path and has to go through'' i never said that the main quest wasnt linear in fact i was saying it was linear i was saying that you have to do things in life to get through to other things you will have a choice with and the main quest does make you make choices so it isnt as linear as you are claiming to be and once you complete it the other main quests give you the same freedom within it.
V Apr 27, 2015 @ 8:44am
so no it isnt a ''generic linear RPG story.'' because the story hasnt been done before and it also gives you multiple ways to complete it so that was a dumb statement to be honest
