I lost faith in humans a long time ago, this just makes me hate them more.
Especially when you consider that the main selling point of a game like Skyrim is what? When you recommended the game to someone, what did you say was the best part? THE ****ING MODS!!!!! Think about that.
How many more sales did the modding community hand to Bethesda and Valve vs what they woulda got sans mods? How many people bought the PC version over consoles because of mods? Then they turn around and do this crap. Disgusting.
Who cares? Even if he did actually say that (apparently he didn't?) it means nothing. Who decides if paid mods are bad for gamers?
Valve will only dump paid mods if its bad for Valve.
In order for it to be bad for them people will have to make it bad for them cause otherwise they are laughing all the way to the bank.
Give Gabe some credit:
"If you are going to ascribe everything we do to being greedy, at least give us credit for being greedy long (value creation) and not greedy short (screwing over customers)."

It's either very late or very early in my part of the world, so too tired to recall the term but I suspect there's some fallacy involved here of admitting the truth by denying it--"not greedy short (screwing over customers)" lol.
Make the Data - Don't buy the mods. I like it, it's good to hear this, I feel like we can still do this, we can still win this.
Thanks for that clarification, I can definitely see how that could be taken in multiple different directions. We'll just have to hope for the best.
fixed
Exactly right.
Got a smile out of me, haha
"Think of money as information. The community directing money flows works for the same reason that prediction markets crush pundits." ----> This quote of his is pretty telling.
And the data will be how many items are getting bought, which if some of the numbers are correct, are a lot higher than I thought they'd be.
Still low if you think about it. The most was 1077 subs at $2.99 a sub. Thats about $3k profits. subtract the percents and thats honestly not much money that the comoany is making compared to overall sales. This project will die quickly if tey want to keep their real profit margins up.
