Say hello to mod piracy now.
It's stupidly obvious that with paid mods will be a massive wave of piracy. So instead of not profitting and people loving your work, you will gain very little and people will hate you. Great idea.

*puts on pirate hat* ARGG!

Basically, only newbs would be paying for mods in the workshop because they are easy to install. Advanced users would download the files offsite and install them manually.
Its Time to be a real pirate again comrades !

I can barely understand people who pirate games, as if entertainment was a necessity on par with food and they were entitled to having access to it no matter what. But pirating mods tops it all. How much of a spoiled loser must you be to claim free access to cheap additional content. If you feel contempt towards a company's business model then stop using its products, while if on the other hand you're such a fan that you can't live without it just pay the $5.

How disconnected from normal financial realities do you have to be to not know that "cheap" is subjective and many "cheap" things add up? (at different rates for different people)

Besides, when did you lower your expectations as a consumer SO LOW that you stopped expecting to recieve a complete game when you paid a full retail price?

I hardly think pirates are thinking "oh I can't live without that" as much as "Who the hell would pay for that?" If you want to criticize something, critizice the willingness to violate federal law, but jesus, don't be PROUD that you won't stand up for yourself as a consumer!

That's going to be the next thing. They will be DRMing the games, cutting non-paid content out, and perhaps even going to far as to encrypt paid mods to prevent piracy. Which of course would also make any Copyright policing harder to do as you couldn't get into the guts of a mod and see if the guy lifted things from others.

There's nothing to pirate through, not that I would anyway...

Paid mods will be made by people only in for the money, and will care almost nothing about the quality of their mods.

The whole deal with this paid MODs is ridiculous. Its a singlehandedly simple way to remove the workshop from steam and a great way to disembowl the modding community. The whole beauty of mods is that you are able to create whatever you want, in whatever timescale you want and do pretty much anything and everything. As soon as money comes into the fold you can guarantee rules will follow. And frankly why the hell would I want to pay cash for content created by an amateur. I have many mods for many games and fully enjoy them but if im already being fleeced for DLC im definately not going to want to throw even more money at mods.

Im not sure who gave this the green light but whoever it was couldn't have been a PC gamer because it is by far the worst idea ive come across in a long time. Noone will be interested in mods with a price tag which means people will be left to get the free stuff which is free because either A: the creator dislikes the idea of earning money (unlikely) or B: the mod is so crap its worthless.

Next we will be getting charged to post on the forums.

So can we use mods from nexus on steam versions?
I am not paying hundreds to mod my game.
dylanstrategie 2015 年 4 月 24 日 下午 3:16
Surely, you wouldn't just download a mod ?

Piracy unfortunately is the way it balances out the greed in people. It's been going on for thosuands of years.

What is odd is companies think they can stop piracy but all it ends up doing is creating more pirates in the process when it does things of this nature.

Just do not purchase the mods guys.

Nice little comment... How much do I owe you for reading all this wonderfully created art of text?
